Best shoe paint or dye for rubber soles? Anyone know the difference between alcohol based vs water based dye/paint and it’s result?

Not for shoes, but alcohol based colours, like copic markers, are better on paper, as you can blend them better. The alcohol paint doesn't damage the paper and you can add multiple layers making smoother transitions.

Water based paint is usually cheaper, and not toxic, so best for children. And you can water them down, making them transparent, and with the right paper you can also add layers.

But for shoes i would use acrylic paint. As i guess water and alcohol based paints would wash off.

Yeah on Amazon, this acrylic paint they have.. one is water based and one is alcohol based.. I think both are waterproof.. do they have Amazon where you’re from?

Maybe I’ll go for the alcohol based. It sounds more promising.. I’ve been reading reviews and this one guy painted the rubber soles of his shoes and they look good.. kinda the same material I wanted to paint.

Acrylic paint is water based but its a difference to aquarel paint.

I guess you can only try and see for yourself.

I would guess any paint wouldn't last long, as you move your shoes the paint would flake off or washed off
