I’d tell that person not to use a big word when a diminutive one would suffice 😉

I think any flattery that I felt would immediately be overridden by my feeling of how full of himself this guy seems to be! I mean, how arrogant do you have to be to using pulchritudinous, instead of just saying beautiful? Maybe if he was British, I’d give him a chance, but that’s it.
Mark Twain said do not use a $5 dollar word when a $0.50 one will do. Pretty and beautiful could have said the same thing, and they’ve more pleasing to the eye and ear.
Concise and succinct are the goal here.
But above all, have the balls to just say anything positive if that’s how you genuinely feel. I’m pretty sure most women, and people in general, will take “pulchritudinous” over “not ugly”, something intelligible, something negative, or silence.Impressed they knew the word but context is everything. Unless we're joking about etymology or something similar, even as a writer I'd find that overblown. Just tell me I'm gorgeous and kiss me already lol.
It's latin, most people don't speak latin, and spoken in English it sounds like and insult.
But you can say something to the effect of:" You radiate pulchritude" meaning that she exudes beauty.- s
I would feel offended at first since it sounds like an offensive word 😂😂 😂
But I then I would feel flattered. It took me 7 trials to pronounce it. I would be like, "Sorry?"
by the way I am gonna try this on my bestie, thanks for the idea lol.I'd tell them to speak English. Why do words like that even exist?
I would not immediately know what that means.
So -to buy time- it would be safe to return: ''Thanks. You, too''I'd probably think they just made up another word to call me putrid. 😐
"... wha-?"
After knowing the defition: "Oh... i know."I'd simply say, thanks... but don't ask me to say it.
Take it as a compliment to be honest, I would be happy
Probably make a joke about him calling me handsome to leave him in confusion so I can leave
I would say something like, “I never heard of that word before, but I’ll take it as a compliment. Are you Russian?”
I would feel flattered.
Tell them to get new glasses and move along.
i wake up
