I guess I didn’t have to, I went to the Nashville symphony with a friend and a lot of people dress up but you don’t have to. I waited to cause I never have an excuse to. Infuses it wasn’t the most fancy outfit in the world, but I am glad I dressed up as the majority of women were and I would say over half the men
I like to go all-out and dress super fancy whenever I go out dancing w/ friends, but I’m recovering from both Covid AND Myocarditis, so I haven’t been “out” in almost two months 😞. The last time I dressed for a formal event would have been my best friend’s older sister’s wedding last June.
Sad to say, I have attended two funerals this year, and as always, I dress in a formal way in dark suit, black tie, and plain white shirt. Most men, at those funerals do NOT know how to dress appropriately for a funeral.
Last time was about 3 years ago, on a cruise. My SO and I attended Captain's Night, where people dress more formally at dinner. I didn't have a tux, so I wore my sport coat, tie, and slacks.

A friend of a friend asked me to pretend to be his girlfriend at his twenty year reunion. It was a little weird but also fun. Dinner, drinks and dancing and he paid me more than I normally make in a week. I got to make up a character and a whole story about how we met and he bought my outfit that I got to keep.
I know how it sounds, but it wasn’t anything dirty or perverted.
About once a month or two we have some function or another that is formal dress and since I worked in my Mom's law firm, that was business dress.

I can go multiple ways with this as I have no problem wearing a dress shirt every day. But, I would say at a conference about three months ago I had to step it up.
At my wedding, don’t really socialize with people who can’t except me for me.
