I don't know when modesty became the reason to wear a bra.
From the corsets of the 1800s, to the 1907 "brassiere"(the top half of split corsets, to the first bra cups in 1932, to 1950s "bullet bras", to pushup bras in the 1960s, bras were intended to enhance breasts, not conceal them.
The absurdity of "training bras" for pre-teens and girls entering puberty was first marketed during the 1950s.
Of course, bras can provide support to well endowed women. And they can minimize uncomfortable jostling when women engage in physical activities.
Bras are great for women who feel more comfortable wearing them. But somehow, people got sold on the notion of bras as mandatory attire.
I don't understand what is obscene about the natural shape of women's breasts. And to make a big deal over the sight of nipple points? People are crazy.
When I started high school in the fall of 1969, some girls were defying school dress codes by refusing to wear bras as a protest against sexism and in support of the "women's lib" movement. The school finally gave in and changed the dress code.
For the life of me, I don't know why a woman needs to wear a bra beneath clothing if she feels more comfortable not wearing one. Yes, there are perverts who act like they've never seen boobs before. And prudes get the vapors if they catch sight of boob jiggle or a nipple bump. But those people are immature and up tight.
If you don't want to wear a bra, don't. Do what makes you comfortable. It's nobody's business. And good on you if going braless brings a bit of cheer into guy's lives. There's no harm in that.
Boobs are charming. Women should celebrate them instead of hiding them beneath armor.23 Reply- +1 y
We boys ALWAYS celebrate boobs.

@handsomelad70 this is correct. We have all seen breast before but we haven’t seen hers. And if you feel like a perv because you get excited about the opposite sex’s body you might need therapy.

@Whitewulf well myself.. i don't think so, i think its soo soo natural if a guy stare at a girl if their nipple is showing tgru

+1 yWifey asked if it was ok to go braless and I don't mind it as long as she is comfortable with it, given how men generally stares. She has double DDs and to date, generally, she always wears some type of bra. At some festivals she has gone braless but then felt to tape up the nipples. It's her choice.

+1 yI'm going to assume that by asking if it's "OK", you are trying to figure out if you will be seen as loose, or disrespected in some way. If that is the case, then I'm afraid that you may get unwanted attention if you choose to not wear a bra under a tight t-shirt in public. It has nothing to do with you as a person, but women's breasts have become so sexualized in the US that guys are going to likely make remarks or possibly be inappropriate.
As for "is it OK" for you? Whatever you feel comfortable doing. At home, I'd say go for it. In public, just be aware that people's responses are beyond your control. A grandma will probably confront you and rant about it, you may be used as an object lesson in a Sunday sermon, and again, guys thinking it's permission to objectify you and making comments. Just some things to consider...

Absolutely, it's perfectly okay not to wear a bra if that's what you feel comfortable with! When it comes to fashion and comfort, you should always listen to your body and do what feels right for you. Wearing a tight T-shirt without a bra is a personal choice and can be a nod to embracing natural body shapes, promoting comfort, and challenging societal norms. Just keep in mind that depending on the fabric of the T-shirt, you might want to consider seamless or nipple covers if you're concerned about visibility and want to keep things smooth. But honestly, it's all about what makes you feel confident and comfortable. Rock your look with confidence, and you'll be setting your own fashion statement! 🌟

+1 yAbsolutely. I often go braless. Be it tight or loose tops. It's how I feel comfortable. Of course you have to watch for certain occasions where it won't be appropriate like for business, formal events, etc. I'm chesty though so I do have to use some powder or deodorant under them during the warmer months.
40 ReplyIt depends on where a girl is going. I would wear one to a funeral, wedding or church. At restaurants, bars and social events I frequently don't wear one as I think a girl looks a lot more confident if she isn't wearing one.

+1 yIt’s totally okay to not wear one, I think it’s a social construct to even have to wear one at all. It sucks though bc I hate wearing a bra so I never wear one at home but definitely feel like I always have to wear one when I’m out in public bc if I didn’t I’d get all self conscious & start to “believe” everyone can tell that I’m not wearing one and then I imagine they’d be “disgusted” at the sight.

It depends on a lot of factors if you're home or somewhere private, no one cares if you've parked your slingshot for the evening and are letting the girls roam free. But in other cases it depends on the season/weather, the place you're going to be, the top you've chosen to wear, etc. etc. etc. So there isn't just one blanket statement.

+1 yCompletely fine and more natural to not wear a bra. The thing that bras tend to cover the most is the nipple, which is the part of boobs that tends to turn guys on the most. So if your nips poke out of your tops, you should know that guys are going to notice it. And for that reason, some girls may disaprove not wearing them, but again... it's completely natural and fine to do it. It's your choice.

+1 yOf course it's ok to not wear a bra. In practice you still should keep in mind the circumstances and the size and shape of the meant breasts, and the dress you will be wearing. Mind I always love women to be braless around me, but it may often be wise to wear one in particular situations and in the presence of some people; well, at least if you don't want disturbing attention. Do still as you feel fit, as long as you're confortable with this.

+1 yThat depends on where you are and who you are with. Some will not like it while others won't care. It's probably not appropriate to go braless in church, but perfectly okay at a picnic with friends.
You know, in the history of humans, the bra is a recent invention, only a few hundred years old. Before the bra was invented, all women went braless.

+1 ySure is! It's actually better for your tits NOT to wear a bra because there's a muscle in there that's intended to hold them up (keep them from sagging) but, if you wear a bra, those muscles don't get to do their job and, without that practice, that makes them weaker and then, when you DO go braless, the girls will try to become knees!

I go braless most of the time.

31 Reply Ok for a girl to wear or not wear a bra as she chooses. Also, a small breasted or flat chested girl would not have any real need for one at any time.
What about a guy who has average sized or larger breasts; what do you think about him wearing a bra?
00 Reply3.4K opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. - According my girlfriend and her mum absolutely okay.
- Both did not wear bra mostly.
- Only for office duties and professional meeting.
- On especial events transparent outfits without bra too.

+1 yMaybe right now that it’s summer in the USA and it s getting hot I thinks it’s okay. I would feel it be uncomfortable wearing a bra in the heat. Maybe wear a bikini top would be all right alternative. It’s all about comfort and fashion and honesty seeing a girl in a tight T-shirt with out is kinda sexy and makes you look confident what you wear.
00 ReplyOf course! I’m at home in a dress and not wearing one right now. I think it just depends on your comfort and the settings. At work, of course I’ll wear it, I’ll dress appropriately and professionally.
10 ReplyAs long as its comfortable for you there is no reason to wear one

@rahul1990 it’s only weird if someone makes it weird🤷🏻♀️
- +1 y
@rahul1990 I mean why not? It’s not like they’re not wearing a shirt. Plus bras hurt if you’re wearing the wrong size and companies suck at making the right size bra. A 32 C for one company could be a 24 B for another and vise versa. Plus if you’re a large chest woman, your chest can weigh a lot and if you wear bras with wires in them, the wires will dig into your skin.
- +1 y
No, I completely agree with the discomfort it creates specially for bigger size girls, but what I was trying to say is, it does grabs a guy’s attention. I mean honestly it is something that guys crave for sexually, but not to take away the fact that for a girl it could be uncomfortable
- +1 y
@rahul1990 the apology is much appreciated, thank you. And while it might grab a man’s attention, that’s something that’s outside of the woman’s control. Men will stare whether there’s a bra or not.
