Girls, Are almond shaped nails in for mid length nails?

I know short square nails are in style. I like the mid length personally and I have read where these are not necessarily out of style. I have always worn square shape. I am considering getting almond shapes. is there and advantage or disadvantage of wearing almond shaped nails?
