As someone who has very challenging hair that I'm still trying to figure out, I've always wondered about this. My hair is a major insecurity of mine because it's curly and frizzy, seems like it's hard to get the amount of shine in it I'd like, and for whatever reason it goes almost stringy at times, especially if it's windy (and even more so if it's been straightened). If it's humid out, there is no possible way I'll have an even halfway decent hair day, and it will get even curlier than usual. I'm still trying new things to figure it out, but I am always super envious of most other women's hair (and also a lot of men's long hair), and feel like I often have the worst hair out of a group. Even straightened, I feel my hair doesn't look good.
How important is it to one's looks that it be as close to perfect as possible? Does so-so/boring/just passable hair ruin a person's overall look? If it looks a little ruffled?
What about length? Mine is stuck at bra strap length and refuses to grow any longer. Because it's curly, it usually looks just a few inches past shoulder length. I'd love for it to reach the middle of my back, but I'm not sure it will happen.
How about thickness? I know it sounds silly, but even as someone who has been told I have thick hair (though I don't feel like it is), I feel insecure when I see beautiful, super thick hair (especially if it's shiny and smooth, which mine isn't) because I know there's no way to make mine like that naturally (as in not a wig or extensions, since I'm very sensitive to wearing things on my head and can't even wear a ponytail for long, and likely can't afford ones that don't look obviously fake). I did briefly lose about half of the thickness at one point due to illness, and I feel like this gave me a ridiculous sense of self consciousness about it that hasn't gone away even though my hair has returned to normal.
