What's the approximate quantity or the relative dimensions of wherever you keep all your unpaired socks hoping that they'll turn up?

Hahaha such a random question lol. I'm not sure dimention exactly but shoe box size sounds about right. Bare in mind there is 3 in my household it's a full box. It would be more but if missing socks don't turn up eventually after many months I'll end up throwing out most of the socks. I'll keep a few cos you never know when might come in handy to make a sock puppet or some other random usage of an odd sock!

Bigger question is - just WHERE do the socks go? Why do they get separated? And why does the matching sock never turn up sometimes? Is there an invisible sick monster that eats them?

My son is kinda ocd since he was a kid. Everything has to be orderly…

one day, he mixed match his socks. We now just do that for fun. So they are all mixed in. 👍

Some of the socks in the family have Monday, Tuesday etc. written on the soles. They were bought in a box of... you guessed it... seven pairs. It's not uncommon to see someone wearing 'Monday' on one foot and 'Friday' on the other. It kind of sums up our week.

Not that many really. I may have 12 pairs of socks I use with sneakers, short at the ankle. They are of 2 types and 2 colors, 'cause I bought them together as 3 packs. I haven't lost of any of those yet.

As for other socks, some have been lost over time or have seen better days. I may keep them for 3 months and then throw them out.

My dad told me to do this, and it has worked for me. For white sports socks find a brand you like and buy only those. For dress socks, buy black and always the same ones. This way when one disappears you have a spare that matches the others. Then if another gets a hole or lost, you have a full pair.

So my socks all go in my sock drawer.

I wear the same socks so…. I don’t mind mixing them ig.

I don’t have a box to keep unpaired socks other than the same sock drawer the others go in.

I leave the mismatched socks in my sock drawer. If they do not turn up in 60 days I relegate them to the rag bag. They are good for detailing our vehicles.

Not much at all, I usually find them since I do my own clothes, only a couple of times I saved one until I found the other, usually it’s still in the washer stuck to the side of drum out of view

I only have one sock missing its mate and I have one sock that is an imposter and belongs to one of my family members. I’m guessing they have my missing sock.
