Is a sleeveless hoodie with a short sleeve shirt tacky?

I was looking at a sleeveless hoodie the other day and tried it on. The lady at the store told me it didn't look right cause I was wearing a t-shirt. She told me I'd look tacky unless I had a long sleeve shirt on. Any other opinions?

Meh... it's just one person's opinion. The best way to know how to wear it is to study how models wear them. If you like the style then go for it.
