Powder or granules. Which instant coffee is best?

OK we all agree freshly ground coffee from a machine is best. But not everyone has a machine or wants to use it for every cup.
So when it comes to coffee, do you prefer powder or granules?8

I've tried a bunch but the ones with granules always tasted better to my palate. My favorite so far is Nescafe Gold Blend:

I take my coffee black. Before I used to take coffee black and favored sweet and creamy coffee, I found some nice-tasting powdered kinds. But for black coffee, all the powdered kinds I've tried that are popular here in Japan aren't very pleasant.

Get yourself an Aerobie Aeropress (or a cheap Chinese copy from Aliexpress). Quick and easy, and tastes much better.

I haven't had a cup of instant coffee in so long I couldn't hazard a guess at which is better.

I buy a certain brand of ground coffee (beans) and brew it in a French press. It's super easy and high quality.

I have the powdered stuff in my survival kit. When the apocalypse happens, I'll be in the forest drinking a Starbucks Viva with hand-rolled cigarettes. I'm not sure what I'll do when that runs out though. Possibly break into people's houses.

Like your post says, I prefer fresh ground coffee. But if that's not available, granules and powder are basically the same when they dissolve in hot water.

I've had the option and passed. I'd opt to not drink any coffee if it meant I'd have to drink instant. I'm not at all a coffee snob but there are just places I won't go.

I honestly can't stand instant coffee, but if I have to have it, it'll be granules, powder coffee is so low grade.

One's as crappy as the other. I'll do without before drinking either one.
I'll stick with my french press.

I just use one of these with some canned coffee, I have to boil the water anyways. Only takes a couple minutes longer.

A lot faster than using a machine and no stupid expensive plastic k cups giving me fresh plastic juice every morning or taking 200 years to break down in the landfill

I am no coffee expert. I might drink a couple of cups a week, but I have always believed in crystals were the best instant option.
