I got into an intense conversation about world foods. A group of English people were visiting America and making comments about how the food was better here than in England in a video.
I told this person I was talking to that I believe every country has good cuisine, and great dishes, but that I didn't think that English food is or was universally considered to be one of or the best in the world. So what do you think?
The things that taste nice in England are not things that are exclusively British anyway so nah. Curries are just borrowed from India even if it's a korma. Fish and chips welp tell me a place that don't have fish and potato's. Pizza and other bread based stuff that wasn't English that's European.
So unless if it's something specific like Black Pudding it's not gonna belong to us anyway. And us British people especially more younger and modern really don't care about these weird actually British dishes.
Most Helpful Opinions
Some things are good like the fish and chips and English breakfast, but other things I really wouldn't even want to look at.
There's nothing wrong with English food itself, the problem is too many times cooks go down the cheap ingredient route and ruin the dish. I think this can be a problem in tourist areas and it gives a bad impression of the cuisine.
