Because gelato has less fat and is served at a warmer temperature, it has a more intense flavour experience than ice cream. Fat can coat the tongue and dull the taste buds, so the lower fat content in gelato allows the flavours to shine through more.

I've had gelato only one time. I remember it as being rather grainy compared to smooth ice cream. The gelato was nice enough, I guess. If that grainy texture that I experienced is typical of gelato, I'd say that I prefer ice cream.

Honestly, what is the difference between Ice Cream and gelato? In Italy, teachers of English make us study that the English translation of Gelato is Ice Cream, therefore the question seems quite meaningless to me.

I’ll take frozen yogurt first, but I chose ice cream. I haven’t had gelato in a long time, and don’t remember what it’s like.
