Do you put stroopwafels on top of your coffee cup?

Stroopwafels are thin waffles with a toffee centre from Belgium. They're very popular here in Wales but we just call them toffee waffles. You're supposed to place them on top of coffee cups so the heat melts the toffee inside but I prefer them cold and chewy or to use to scoop up ice cream.

my understanding my my dutch coach is that stroop waffles are dutch. i prefer the ones with apple in the middle or the ginger version. they are everywhere in schipol but not in almere.
