But then it occurred to me, I don't know what men even consider feminine.

Trending & News That is a good question. I suppose it could mean something a little different to everyone. I would have to say what most people mean by feminine is mostly about a woman having class, and acting like a lady. In many cases that just means you avoid certain behavior. Drinking till you pass out, chewing tobacco, cussing like a sailor, getting in a guys face and challenging him just because you know he won't hit a girl are all things a feminine woman will try to avoid. Of course you can still let your hair down, and have fun, and stand up for yourself, but overall you should be more lady, than wild party girl.
To some extent that may involve showing a willingness to show traits more common in classic gender roles. This doesn't mean being chained to a stove, but rather engaging in certain behaviors that would be seen as stereotypical of that gender. Acting like you are so strong and independent that you don't need a man isn't feminine. Women often like a man that makes her feel protected. The flip side of that is that men like a woman that makes him feel like a protector. Currently a lot of women are acting so tough that she comes off as very masculine. I am not saying you need to play the weak damsel, but there should be limits to how bad ass you act.
I would say one of the bigger problems I see is that a lot of women have serious issues with men, and can't ever give in on any issue. In a relationship both people need to pick their battles, and occasionally just let their partner have their way. This is part of the give in take that is important to all relationships. Acting like you have a constant drive to defeat us all the time, or throwing a fit when you don't, is not ladylike behavior. I know a woman that will give a guy the silent treatment for a couple of days, if he even just wins a card game. Just acting like you value men, will actually go a long way. A gentleman shows respect to women, and a lady shows respect to men.
Some people view masculinity and femininity as oppressive social constructs. I view them as universal ideas to which human makes and females respectively have, very imperfectly, evolved to conform. But you could write a book on that.
If guys have one valid general complaint about American women, it's that so many of them spend so much time and effort maximizing the utility which they will demand from a partner instead of working on increasing the utility they provide to a partner. Then they pretend to see it differently, and act like they don't know why they can't find a husband. Having another man's child doesn't make you ready made family. It makes you a liability and an extra expense. Having a high earning career doesn't make you less dependent on my earnings. It inflates your sense of what I should earn and wastes your time and energy on things I don't care about. Having an advanced education doesn't make you more interesting and fun to hang out with. It gives you an inflated sense of self worth and leaves you with debts you probably expect me to pay. Having a high partner count doesn't make you a better, "more experienced" lover. It infects you with disease and gives you more men with which to compare every little thing I do.
That is such a broad and subjective term, hmmm
I guess when I think of "feminine", I find it loosely related to maternity. Having that whole maternal, caring, nurturing personality. Appearance wise, long hair and dresses. But this image was socially constructed by mass media.
I know lots of Americanos who fit the "feminine" criteria! We're definitely feminine, don't let that get you down. You're really pretty in your dp : ) totally oozes female pheromones.
Thanks:)
American women have very right not to be feminine (im not American myself btw)
from what i see, a lot of men over there are pigs and plain obnoxious towards women
if (lets say) a guy slapps a girls butt on the street (which seems to happen a lot) and her feelings are hurt and she cries or yells or something people call her a psycho
so yea even IF American women are not feminine, its justified, you can't be a dainty little flower in a dangerous world
Thank u good point :)
you're welcome ^_^
dont let calims like that get you
because you know what if it IS true then guys only have themselves to blame for making you live in a world were you dont feel safe and you have to "man up" lol
Fuck labels. I'm a tomboy at heart, I play football (soccer), love all sorts of activities that include sports really, do not act like a girly girl and I'm still "feminine". I think when guys say it, they pretty much just mean a girl that's completely opposite. A girl who loves fashion, drama movies, bubbly every single minute, make-up, the whole kit really. And that's fine, but you don't have to be/do all that to see yourself as "feminine". :)
True thanks

Feminine are girly things, things that are the opposite of MACHO. Submissive, calm, passive, not aggressive, not butch, just overall very 'lady' like. Sometimes it's just in your genes. Some girls look very feminine and you don't even need to hear a word from them.
Feminine = hottt. Just like girls want a masculine guy.
She knows who she is.
She is not afraid of taking on a challenge.
She expects men to treat her well.
She is kind and fun and selfless.
She is comfortable in her own skin.
She does not try to act what she is not.
She takes care of herself.
She is confident and not needy.
I think guys secretly look for traits in girls from there mothers personality. The most common one is probably kindness. The second would be senseitivity.
Don't believe in this whole universal thing. Try and find a girl who thinks kindness is a number one masculine trait. I bet you wouldn't find many!
I agree with the guy who said look at Japanese women. What I think is feminine is dresses, skirts, medium to long hair, pantyhose when it's cold, flats or heels, small or no tattoos. American girls wear jeans, tshirts, dislike heels, and get all sorts of trashy tattoos. Not attractive.
I'm doing my very best to not have a specific idea of what a "masculine man" and a "feminine woman" is, because it doesn't exist, and it just sways my judgement based on completely arbitrary concepts that make near-zero sense.
Although if I force myself to think of it, "feminine behavior" tends to be linked with being obnoxiously bubbly, liking Twilight, shoes, and using makeup. Neither of which are all that positive, hence why "tomboys" are inherently better in every possible way.
Good point! thanks
In my opinion a girl that is gentle and sensitive and that kind of radiates calmness and positivity. About all the make-ups fashion etc, I dont like that, but if she enjoys it I accept her choice, I like natural beauty. And to my personality I would say, a girl wich kinda calms the wild in me, and gives me a more delicate and sensitive perspective of the world
i believe that a feminine female is a woman who dresses in a very elegant way like a modest dress not jeans or shirts or whatever she speaks in a soft tone she is confident she got etiquette and she is not easy to get.. this is a feminine female.. which i am not.. but i don't care what do others think and you shouldn't either be what makes you comfortable and most importantly happy
I love volleyball and soccer.. I like tall thin or athletic women. That says beauty to me. Mostly I love confidence and a good heart.
A feminine woman is a woman who is "lady like", has respect for her body and how she presents herself to others.
Just look at how Asian girls act. They all look feminine, at least, japanese and koreans.
feminine woman = a woman who's insecure and talks about girly stuff all day long
sorry but i'd rather a cool tomboy XD
Feminine to me is someone who wholeheartedly believes that they're feminine and clearly shows it.
Cuties who have a sense of fashion <333
a woman that shows she likes men
