It depends on both of them, their technique and skill at it, and their body build. A chick like Rhonda Rousey, for example, could probably take on dudes her size, maybe slightly bigger, and of course smaller than her. She is a stocky build with great technique and the body to bring people down.

So it really depends on the people involved. There isn't one body build for all men or women, so asking if a girl could take on a guy won't really get you anywhere if you don't know who's fighting.

Smaller dudes beat bigger, stronger guys all the time.

It's not magic. It's technique and intelligently applied tactics beating raw strength.

No reason a well trained and conditioned woman couldn't do the same. Hell, I'm welling to bet there's a dude tapping out right now in Jiu-Jitsu somewhere right now.

I'm a guy and I have certainly been beaten by girls in wrestling, judo, and karate. What would be the point of learning martial arts if the strongest person always won?

Of course, even in MMA smaller guys sometimes beat much larger opponents.
