Why does anyone alter any part of their clothing? For the same reason! TO BE stylish to make yourself look nice if it looks looks nicer to you in the mirror... Maybe it was too big, or too plain on it's own...

Because if we can tie it in a knot, it was most likely super big on us and we thought it made us look shapeless like wearing a garbage bag so, we tie it so it hugs our form.
