Alright there is this cute girl at my school. I checked her out a couple times and noticed her looking back.

Never talked to her before and I don't want to look like a weirdo just coming up to her straight forward. So I would like some expert tips on how I would go by doing this without looking like a retard. Personality wise, I'm a pretty shy person don't wanna look like a try hard or desperate.

Sounds like you're looking for assurance that she might be interested. If when she "looks back" she holds eye contact with you for an extra second or two and maybe smiles or something then that's a pretty good sign. If you find out more about her it can be easier to know what to look for (ex. is she shy?, outgoing?, very sociable?, etc.)

I used to be shy around your age too. To approach a girl in this situation you need an opening line. I would suggest looking at what school books she might be carrying, which you could follow up with what teacher she has for that class, if you're in it too, etc. Or compliment her! Girls love compliments. If you like her shoes or bookbag or something you can easily lead in with that; Just be prepared to discuss some light fashion (ex. brands, stores, trends, etc.) 2nd step VERY IMPORTANT! (If she took the bait and seems to be responding positively to your approach) Once you hit that awkward silence, quickly jump into the introduction and say "I'm ______ by the way..." implying that youd like to know her name. Then when she replies you're in! If you can, then by all means keep talking, but at any time you can part ways and say "I'll see you around (insert her name)".

The next day you know where to find her. Go work your magic.

True, but high school and college are different. He makes it seem like he sees her daily so if he's already shy there's no need for him to take that big of a step (getting her number) right away.

In College however, you're completely right. Campuses are usually MUCH bigger and the odds of coming across her again anytime soon are slim, so acquiring the number is a must.

Just wanted to say, as a high school girl, I'd be totally flattered if a guy did that. College it may be different, and then it'd be fine to get the girl's number. I don't know what I'd do if a guy came up to me, whom I'd never really seen before, and asked for my number.

I being a shy guy have some news for you. Only a fool plays it cool. I always worry about looking like a weirdo too. Every time I've had success with the ladies it has been because I was able to approach her naturally. Initiating the conservation is half the battle. If it's at school try to casually approach her while she is alone about a test or a crazy teacher or something that she could relate to. Just try to come off relaxed and nice. Remember to trust your instincts and don't get to down if it doesn't go over to smoothly.

I know you said you were shy, however if she's not a really outgoing type, she's gonna wait for you to make the first move. See if you have any mutual friends, or friends that are friends with her friends, and try talking to them in a large group or something. If that doesn't work, just go up to her say 'hi' and give her a compliment, she'll probably really appreciate it, and maybe she'll start up a conversation.

Just please don't play it cool! If you play it cool, then she'll play it cool, and it will be a never ending circle of chilly people!
