I believe they can be in regards to how they accept and encourage other's judgments, criticisms, and opinions, as the games that women play become more vindictive and short-sighted. Men speak to each other too, but in broader context of what is the goings on in his day-to-day life. Women loosely constrict their details yet still allow the bigger picture to be a partison recruiting of their confidantes to their 'side.' This is such a counterintuitive technique that warrants concern for the defenseless one's misappropriation. And fights or arguments are usually always so so short-lived that it's nonsensical to change the way their friends look at the man afterwards. I would argue that herein is where the deception is at its peak, because when the man isn't wrong and they want a way out or to make him look bad, they use it offensively and, in turn, misappropriate themselves to save face and/or validate that it's okay to wrongfully leave someone who wasn't even aware because the women didn't communicate the same for him in order to meet a compromise.

A number of recent studies have shown that women lie as much as men. The difference seems to be that women and men automatically assume that a woman is telling the truth but both automatically assume men are lying.

Another study related to affairs also showed that women were more likely to have an affair and more likely to have that affair go for longer, indicating that in some or most cases women are more careful in what they lie about and how they lie.

A number of other studies have also shown that lies between men and women tend to be about the same or tend to follow the same patterns however women tend to make more use of emotional manipulation than men so will often employ ideas around calling out a man's jealousy sooner, this causes the man then to be thrown off guard, whenever he suspects that something is wrong he'll automatically turn it on himself effectively gaslighting himself.

This isn't to say that women bare awful it's just a simple fact if development and socialisation that's different between the sexes.

I'd say so, more because most people don't properly understand women and think that women are complicated. And in some ways they kind of encourage this confusion.

Certain types of men might lie a lot for example, but men's lies are obvious. They lie to get laid mostly. Maybe they tell a girl they want a relationship just to have sex with her when they have no real intention of that. Maybe they lie about their job, the amount of money they make, anything that could make them seem like more of a "catch". Maybe they lie in order to cheat. Everybody knows how men lie and why.

In our culture today it's also a commonly accepted "truth" (myth) that men lie more than women do for that exact reason. Add to that the influence of feminism which basically focuses on the positives of women and the negatives of men, and although the people who believe that won't admit it openly because when you put it this way it sounds ridiculous, you get this idea that women are morally superior to men. To suggest otherwise means that you're probably a misogynist pig or an "incel" or something.

As a result women's lies are hidden much better. That's how they're more deceiving. It's easier to get fooled by a lie that isn't as obvious.

I think that women tend to be far more deceptive than men, but primarily because society encourages physicality in men, and socialization in women. That's why the kind of bullying women inflict on others tends to be verbal and emotional, often involving deception. Personally, when I was in high school, when guys had a problem with each other, they often faced-off and sometimes physically fought. The girls on the other hand, focused more on gossip, and spreading vicious rumors about their adversaries (who are far more often girls as well).

Can men be very deceptive? Absolutely. Women however, are more so.

I don't know but I think women can take a weird pride in manipulation. Even blame their partners for not catching the deception. Men who lie and deceive come up with a single cover story and stick to it. Women will use guilt and deflection tactics to make man overlook the flaws in her multiple cover stories. Female deceivers rely on male naivity and guilt ("she'd be more honest if I just man up"). Male deceivers rely on their girlfriend's willingness to believe stories ("he says I'm the only girl for him, and i want to believe thats the truth")

Hmmm, the use of the word 'deceiving' has me placing the sexes on equal grounds. Now if you used 'manipulative,' females hands down.

That could be my bias speaking though from being a male. A female simply has an easier ability to lull me into the twisted webs they can weave because of the feelings they can provoke (e. g. feeling horny). A dude on the other hand has no such power. I'm waaaaaay more likely to call bullshit on a dude and suspect I should from the start. Thus my own personal lived experience has led me to disproportionally the victim of the female gender's tricks.

Yes and it's a survival mechanism : men have brawn but can be easily manipulated through sex for example. Women don't have the upper hand physically so they usually try a non-physical approach and manipulations/deception can help them survive some situations, both literally and metaphorically.

Women are internal. Men are external. Women tend to be more social & psychological, and men more logical and physical.
Women seem to always have a better "sense" for social situations. All my female friends are really insightful when it comes to reading emotions. I cannot do this nearly as well.

This is not to generalize, but just to observe an emergent trend.
Whether you attribute this to biology, societal conditioning, or stereotype, I still believe it's a real thing.

For this reason, I'd imagine women are better manipulators, but this isn't necessarily a bad thing. I believe it's more of a survival mechanism.

If you factor in how manipulative they are, how their aims in relationships are more often materialistic compared to guys, how all arguments end in them being right and the guy not even knowing why he is being treated the way he is.

It is a fact that both genders are manipulative, but girls are more manipulative towards guys and guys just don't need to manipulate people, at least not nearly as much as girls do.

Yes because people by default are more prepared to believe women's word over men's, and people tend to stick to behaviors they've found to be reliably advantageous. On the other side of the coin, men are more likely to commit acts of violence in self-service because it's more likely to work for them.
