Initial impression of a girl with braces?

My friend introduced me to her mutual friend on facebook a week or so ago. We're planning to meet each other soon, but the fact that I wear braces keeps holding me back - I don't want to scare him away. My photos of facebook are of me with closed mouth smiles so you can't see that I have them on.. as you can tell I'm really not confident with my braces at all. I'm slightly worried that if I do meet him and smile showing my teeth he might not like me as much.. or it would at least affect my chances with him.

My question is:

What do you think of girls with braces? does it make her mouth less appealing to look at or kiss?

i think it depends on the age. when I was younger (like in high school) my impression would be negative. but I'm older now. we all mature differently but I think the guy you're interested in is old enough to realize that those braces are temporary, and when they come off, you're going to look FABULOUS. so this is actually a GOOD THING. some people naturally have perfect smiles, true, but once your braces are off you'll look just like them.

im sure you know that once your done, your going to look better then ever. but you want to know if this guy realizes the same thing. I'm saying that I think he's old enough to realize that.

i think of it as the ugly duckling effect (not that you're ugly). :)

oh and I forgot to mention that for my present self, if I met a girl with braces, I would actually be excited because of 2 things:

#1, as I mentioned in my above answer, I know that when they come of you will look great.

#2, not every guy will think the same as me, therefore I have less competition and more confidence in approaching you.

It should be said that there are guys that like braces. He very well could be one. Keep a positive attitude and be adventurous. Good luck.

I don't have any beef with them. Remember as the guys were going after the girl wearing the braces. The braces are nothing more then some wire and brackets that do come off at some

point. As where the girl wearing then has feelings and enjoys hanging out, movies, eating out etc we want the gal. the braces shouldn't stop us guys.

I want to know this too, I'm 21 and I have braces! I haven't dated anyone with them yet, but I've only had them since december. I'm kinda nervous about it, I don't think I'll be any good at kissing haha. I'm self concious of them too but I know they will be worth it in the end! my smile is going to be amazing after they are off and I can't wait :D if the guy is smart enough he will see that you obviously care about your apperance by getting braces and they are only temporary anyway.

oh thanks so much for your comment :) I'm so glad I'm not alone ha ha I thought I was the only one in my age group with braces. I've had mine on since May last year. 2-3 more months to go till them come off.. I really can't wait. I'm so self-conscious of them.

I've known several adult women, two who are in their 30s, who wear braces and it doesn't detract from their appearance one bit. As long as very good oral hygiene is observed (kissably-fresh breath!), I can't see anything wrong with them.

How long before the braces come off? I've seen the results on some of the aforementioned women and their smiles were captivating, without exception.

Thanks for your positive comment :) Yes, I always brush my teeth after meals and snacking. I have about 2-3 more months to go till they come off - I can't wait!

Wearing braces doesn't make you look like a freak. I mean I fall like crazy for girls with braces. They look so um...innocent and cute! I love braces. But some girls look ugly with braces. But its all upto the guys standards. Most people fall for the other person feelings NOT THERE LOOKS!

well to be honest, it isn't my first choice, however, it wouldn't be a total deal breaker. if she was cute and nice then I'm sure I could get past it
