No. The problem is men marrying the likes of strippers. Rewarding trampish behaviour and setting a terrible example for the next generation of girls who feel they only need to be superficial to qualify as a lady. Men, how do you expect women to have morals when you're not demanding morality out of them? Growing up wanting to be a barbie is trampish not ladylike. A lady is honourable, not cheap.
Fuck a stripper and discard it. You have even successful men in the public eye marrying these Tramps. So I do blame men for this and it will be men that sort it out.
We teach young children that you should not strive to be your best, that the quest for excellence is evil, that anything goes, that lessons learned from millions of years of evolution and procreation are patriarchal and outdated, that there are no moral or physical boundaries, imperatives or ideals, that reality is whatever you want it to be.
And then we wonder why society is going to hell in a handbasket.
I have no idea what goes on in any girls head. Certainly not my daughters. All i know is she likes brushing her dolls hair and i think she is crazy. I also have laser gun fights with her. She loves cuddles and teddy bears. I think we overthink everything.
Good role model for boys as well, the dolls might teach them to respect women more, if we learn how women think, ok that's impossible but might make us more empathic,,,
Eg, my BFF spends like two hours on make-up each day, I don't even notice if she's "got her face on" or not,,,
Yes because she has done almost every career possible proving women can do it all. She’s anti-racism, and pro inclusivity. They now have a wide range of inclusive Barbie and Ken dolls and if grows all the time. The Barbie brand as a whole has grown so much since I was a little girl. And it’s just wonderful to admire the change. Especially with the new Barbie videos being produced that address hard issues and topics in a way children can understand.
I would like to think so but "butch" barbie, gender neutral barbie and drag queen barbie reminding our original barbie of her white privilege i fear barbs could be in trouble.
i dont think so, it makes them feel like they should (excuse my language) have big tits, tiny waists, and normal butts and perfect blue eyes symmetric faces and blonde hair. at least it was my experience. maybe it changed I don't know, educate me pls
No, Barbie never has been based upon today’s expectations. However, she was considered to be a role model back in the 50’s and 60’s though because it’s what women were expected to be and how they should look. It was very archaic.
Role model? No but she is a toy which young girls use to pretend they are anything you can imagine while being pretty at the same time. Barbie encourages girls to stay thin instead of becoming fat.
does a Barbie doll really determine a young girl’s future? How about all the Disney princesses telling women they should be naturally rich, powerful, having men on their knees and entitled/special just for being a woman?
Hell yea gota love the song... bb who you wanna be. b. A. r. b. i. e barbie girl! Lol no girl is looking at how tiny the waist it on a dolly. Or how big her boobs are lol
I think a question like this is pretty typical on GAG. Where women shouldn't have any goals in life other than to look like barbie. In the real world, women actually have educational and career goals and have to make a living.

No and it has never been a good role model for young girls.
"Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised." (Proverbs 31:30)
Not since the venerable toy doll has been changed into a tool of political correctness and indoctrination.

I never thought of toys as role models. I know there are movies and tv shows for Barbie but never saw them...
Current barbie yeah.
She is literally every profession possible.
Old barbie nah. But that generation did everything to keep women down.

Unrealistic body proportions and no personality? Not, no she is not.
