Why do women sway their hips; is it on purpose when they walk and are they aware that they are swaying?

Oh, I actually did animation so I know way too much about this topic. Both men and women sway their hips in order to centre their gravity. Its more notable on women because (a) women have naturally wider hip bones, and (b) women tend to build more fat around their hips and thighs, unlike men who build more fat around their lower stomach.

Other factors which are less well known, how much your hips sway depends a lot on your posture. So that super-sexy-walk we associate with confident women that has loads of hip sway, happens because if the back is straight then the centre of gravity should be a straight line from the tip of the head to the foot. But if your slouched forward when you walk then your centre of gravity is forward and your hips don't need to move just quite as much to compensate (a lot of the time if someone has a big slouch in their walk you'll see their shoulders sway instead of their hips, think the hard-man walk).
Most people will have some slouch to their walk unless they're deliberately trying not to (like with the super-sexy-walk), but on average (tho far from always) men will have a bigger slouch. The main reason for this is women have more weight on their top and front so will get back pain from bad posture faster, so tend to correct it more often.

Sometimes It comes naturally to some people, sometimes It's on purpose and comes with practice.

Women's bone structure is different than men when it comes to the back side due to childbearing ability. That little difference in structure creates this feminine shape which everyone are familiar with, which makes the bottom and the hips to stand and to look in a certain shape.

In many cultures, Western culture which I am clearly aware of, we have certain walking rules for women as part of lady-like system. Many women tended to be taught how to carry themselves in terms of walking, body language and gesture.

This walking style tend to be attractive and erotic for some reason which many women taught to do or later practice to do in order to not only feel good themselves but also express their femininity.

Some do walk on purpose like that, because it's attractive, gains male attention. There are few reasons behind why such walk happens.
- curves, she can't walk otherwise
- wearing high heels - it's easier to walk this way if you walk in heels. It's also far more elegant and feels more effortless, yet you feel much more feminine instantly
- on purpose, in which way it's practiced. It might be from insecurity. Learning to do this on purpose apparently helps some girls' confidence.

Women have a very specific walk; mostly due to the movement of their hips.

This is a telltale for spotting the difference between genuine XX chromosomes and men who play dress up in order to pretend to be women. Men simply don't have the skeleton structure to move that way.

Mostly no, women dont sway their hips on purpose…its natural because women have wider hips when compare to men…so they walk their hips sways…. but depends…like for mine…i am a curvy girl….. and like when i wear joggers or a short tight skimpy skirts…. its sways or jiggle automatically when i walk….. some women do it on purpose to get the attention……as men are very much attracted to women behind….

Their hips are built to have babies and that fundamentally changes their center of gravity. Men and women both move their hips differently. Men bend at the waist, women bend at the hips.

Some women accentuate the hip sway they naturally have tho. Watch a video clip of people power walking and you'll see the differences more clearly.

That's part of the reason women naturally have stronger legs than men structurally speaking. Their base is more stable than ours from a mechanical standpoint

it's more to do with how they were born, women have usually wider hips and bigger butt so it tends to sway rather they want it or not. But fellas i know the ass is sexy and I know you wanna look, but don't. Get you a girl and look at her ass all the time, she won't get mad for it

Women dont sway our hips more than men, we have wider hips (for obvious reasons, you shouldve been taught in school sex ed) the wider hip bones just make it appear like we swing them

They don't sway them on purpose; it's due to their wide pelvis bones and anatomy.
Most aren't aware of it, as the ones who are overexaggerate their sashays.

It's biology, the way a woman's body is put together, with wide hips built for childbirth. A woman can accentuate the sway of their hips by putting one foot in front of teh other, but their hips will always sway from side to side.
