Girl asked me if I liked her. Why?

She somehow found out that i used to like her back in school. She asked me that in person, and i said i did like her back then but she had a boyfriend.

She then asked me if i still did and i said i didn't. And then she asked me if i liked any other girl now and if i have a girlfriend.

what was her motive?

Depends on her personality.

If she is always flirty and attention-seeking, she could be looking for validation only.

But if she is a nice girl, she probably likes you a lot and never had the courage to tell you. And she is trying to see if she still has a chance with you after learning you liked her back at some point.

Most likely the second scenario.
