Pantyhose give a smooth outward appearance: no bumps due to snaps that hold up hose with a garter belt. But they're made of nylon or other material that doesn't "breathe." Women's labia and vaginas don't do well covered by material other than light cotton. We get infections due to being overly damp. Yeast infections are then transferred to men who give them back to us. Itching and burning.

Nobody wants or needs this. So it's looks versus practical function. There are hose that have elastic tops that are the best of both worlds. No garter belt and no pantyhose and they stay up and look sexy and smooth.

But I live in board shorts and t shirts. Haven't done any kind of pantyhose except for heavy, winter hose, when the heat issue isn't a problem. For the few times I dress up, I wear long dresses so I don't have to wear hose because my legs aren't seen. I shave them and they're smooth.

Mostly, I avoid hose. I've never thought pantyhose looked sexy because I wear underwear with them: to avoid the yeast issue.

Garterbelts are the sexy choice in my opinion, but no one's ever requested one, so I don't have one. If requested, I would get one for show.

Plus you don't have any access to the fun zone.
Being older I had some girlfriends that would wear gates belts and nylons to bed, and once in a while when we went out.
That way they could leave them on and you had full access.
Barefoot in sandals, heels etc are just fine, not sure how comfortable it is for her, but still sexy.
I'm not into the sneaker fad now, but they come off and look fine next to the bed.

It’s changing actually. Lots of younger guys have grown up with women not wearing pantyhose. Women also tend to wear pants more often these days.

When I grew up pantyhose were heavily marketed to women. There were commercials on TV. All stores carried them, even 7 Eleven. References were made to them in TV shows and you saw women wearing them daily in public as well as on television. That changed dramatically after the 20th century. Most millennial women didn’t wear them so the guys from that generation on didn’t develop a preference for them.

Gen X women were the last generation that really had to wear pantyhose. Mostly in their teens up through their thirties. The 90s were the last decade they were worn heavily. Lots of Xers stopped once millennials declared them unfashionable.

I think it’s guys of a certain age that still have a strong preference for pantyhose. But actually women just traded them for leggings, with the added bonus of being able to drop dresses and just wear them as pants. Leggings are like the modern version of pantyhose only thicker. They still like wearing tights and showing off their legs but added their rear and hips for guys to see. Millennials and Gen Z guys are probably going to post in the future how they ironically preferred women in leggings once women stop wearing them.

They're typically worn when wearing a dress or skirt, right? I mean, i can't think of any other time you'd wear them, unless maybe the bedroom but even then, that's more like, garters etc..
