Would a headscissor actually work?

Im somewhat into wrestling and have been seeing videos of the headscissor where you wrap your legs around someones head and squeeze. Just wanted to know how easy something like that would be and if they could get out

Just legs wrapped around the head would to nothing, very easy to escape. The closest thing to that which would work is the triangle choke, but then you need to pull the head in with your hands also, and you need to have one of their arms trapped as well.

If the opponent is strong head scissors won’t always work but can be effective if you execute it right. If the guy is way bigger than you it’s best to use this as a self defense move and escape. For guys I’d recommend swift strikes to the groin. One time my step bro and boyfriend were wrestling me and held me sideways acrosss them trying to bend me and make me submit but a slap to their package made them drop me.

I’d like to add both of them were very strong and good varsity wrestlers ofc it’s not legal in actual matches but if you just wanna win at wrestling in the house or self defense it works

Well, a few times just because I got lucky hits and they are a bit “endowed” in those areas so I think more sensitive. They’d usually dominate me but I could use it to get out of holds and stuff. Wrestlers aren’t really trained to protect that area. Most of the time they’d win as they are a lot stronger

He’s wrong doesn’t matter how strong a guy is if you hit him there correctly he will go down you just gotta get lucky. Some guys require harder hits than others some are extra sensitive there some not so much really depends on the guy

It works better if your legs are around their neck rather than their skull. Headscissors around the skull are less effective and easier to slip out of.

Wrap your legs around their neck. It is much more difficult for them to escape than wrapping around their head.

I think it's a bit less practical compared to other moves
It's quite unlikely that you will be able to do that unless your opponent is very very weak or is among the ones who have a fetish for it.. quite common nowadays, we always kick those wimps out ngl

I think if their neck is positioned correctly/they have sufficient leg strength then it will be hard for them to escape. The average man with no wrestling knowlege could not escape the headscissor of say a woman with a background that would give her strong legs such as a dancer or equestrian. Whether it is the most effective hold is another question, depends what the objective to subdue them or knock them out. A headscissor can knock someone out or they would be preoccupied just from the pain of being squeezed to try to escape.

The headscissor is not about strength. Properly done by wrapping the legs around the head, just under the jaw, and squeezing, cuts off the blood supply to the brain by compressing the carotid artery, which subdues your opponent.

It's actually very dangerous and can kill someone.

Lock it on tight, head right up in the thighs…. Ankles crossed, just stretch out the legs… he is not going anywhere… wife and I wrestle often, play full but competitive… when she gets a headscissor hold on me… I have no chance, have to tap out out… score in the end would be like 10 wins her, and maybe 2/3 wins for me.
