Is she distancing herself from me?

My bestie’s mum is in the hospital. She said she wanted to catch up after Easter but is now undecided about it. She also said she’ll let us know if she wants to join us at group events, before Easter. When we attended a party together, she said; ‘I actually had fun tonight.’

Dude it's kinda hard to say for sure from just that info, but here's what I'm thinking:

- Her mum being in the hospital is obviously a stressful thing, so she's probably preoccupied with that. Give her space for now.

- Saying she'll "let you know" about events instead of committing could indicate she's pulling back a bit. Not a definite yes.

- The comment about having fun at the party together is kinda weird too - like she felt she needed to clarify she had a good time with you?

So there are some mild red flags that make it seem like she's distancing herself slowly. A few things could be happening:

- Stress from her mum is making her want alone time more. Totally understandable.

- Maybe you've been hanging out too much lately and she needs breathing room from the friendship.

- Possibly met someone new she's more focused on spending time with now.

My advice would be give her space for now while her mum's sick. Don't double text or pressure her to hang. If she keeps being flakey on plans, take the hint you two need a break from full-on bestie mode. Nothing wrong with hitting her up less often - see how she responds to that first. Play it cool for now.

I am not sure the whole story or what she is trying to do or not trying to do, but I have found in life that any relationship needs to be supported from both sides, if one side isn't giving what you think you are giving them then don't waste your energy trying to compensate for their lack of try.

I am not saying completely ghost her but if she isn't putting in a ton of effort, neither should you, unless she has other stuff going on that might be making things tough for her to socialize or something.
