I personally don't think so because at that age, it is when testosterone starts to peak in puberty and rather than be protective, boys in that age group are rather the ones wanting something else than to be protective of girls.

Unless of course, the girls are siblings and that those boys want to protect them from predators that have deviant intentions with the female siblings.

Other than that, I don't think that this would apply knowing how boys and men are slaves of their testosterone from the start of puberty practically to their deathbeds.

Unless those boys are afflicted with hypogonadism, a very low level of testosterone and don't react the same way as regular boys with a normal level of testosterone would do.
