I think Women's football today... is better than Women's football in the past, yes

and I also think Men's football of today... is NOT better than Men's football of the past, no

but, what do we really mean by better? that's highly subjective and a matter of perspective... for example, although I think football was much more better before and more of a competitive sport and less of a marketing event in general.. when we go to the specifics... a modern football final was perhaps, the best football game I've ever seen... and that was the last World Cup final in 2022... to me, anyway

to me... football is about stories, and also history and you either learn to "love" that or you will not enjoy it as much because let's be honest, football soccer is not the most exciting game and it can also be a very frustrating game to watch, lmao... so, the best you can hope is to see a great story in the making, and something that goes into history as "great" within the game

women's soccer might have many of those stories, yes... but it doesn't have the history yet... not as much as men's soccer so, it is a very different thing

The only sports where women can compete with men in are ultra endurance running, ultra distance open water swimming, sports shooting (with guns), equestrian/dressage, precision sports (like bowling, darts, etc), and artistic sports like gymnastics, figure skating, synchronized swimming, etc.)

Women are physiologically generally weaker in terms of physical strength than men and have lower physical endurance. That makes it all the more impressive when they beat men in ultra long distance running or swimming. It shows they have more willpower and mental strength when they beat the men. That and they tend to weigh less so they have to carry less weight.

One aspect that women tend to trump men is flexibility. Scientific research consistently shows that women are, on average, more flexible than men. Their structural and connective tissues are less stiff and more elastic. If men are rocks, you can call women water.

But in sports where you require explosive strength, men will always trump women.

I've a relative who played the senior England's women team and absolutely trashed them. It was a boys under 15 team. So no. If you are English you might say yes because the English women's team have recently won and the England senior team hasn't won anything since 1966 falling at every hurdle.

I've heard other women say that female footballers should be paid the same as the men and that they are way better than the men but if you ask them to name a single female football player or the last women's football game they attended or watched on tv they can answer. Fact is very few are watching women's football, few are buying women's football merchandise or buying tickets for their games which means less revenue generated meaning they can't be paid the same.

No, not even close. I watched the overtime of the final it was not very exciting. The amount of missed chances. The Spanish striker who later missed the goal on penalties had like 4 chances in overtime alone and she missed the ball twice and the other 2 chances she didn't even get a shot off because she was too slow. The best mens teams the way they pass the ball quickly and cleanly it's not even compareable to this. The swiss ladies team just lost 7-1 to 14 year old boys and that's not a one time occurence, all the best womens team loose to boys teams.

Honestly I feel like football is one of the sports where the gap is the largest. Things like gymnastics, track and field, swimming, long distance running, the gap is closer. I don't know if it's because of the development that is so insane in football. I don't know exactly but it's not close atm. But I'm glad the event was a success and people are interested.

I can’t think of a single sports where that is true

The one thing I like about women football is that they don’t whine and complain as much as men

Men will barely touch one another and start rolling on the grass in pain

Women can have a broken nose be bleeding all over and still walk with a smile

That being said as far as pure skill goes it’s not even close.

There’s a reason people don’t come from all over the watch 15 year old boys play football or any other sport on a random weekend

And most 15 year old boys team could beat the pro women (many have already)

Not one bit.

It's akin to watching Sunday league amateur games for speed strength and skill.

If school boys teams are able to demolish women's profession teams then money should be poured into schools to give boys more opportunities.

It's a segregated limited access sport that's great for women but if any other occupation allowed that difference in performance between two employees then the employer would have words with someone.

I don’t watch it, but all I can say is that a number of these top women’s football teams have been beaten, even skunked by numerous boys teams. Boys! They also lost to Wrexham, a team actually made up of retired players, 12-0. So based on that, no I don’t think so. I think the men’s leagues are harder, more skilled.

Yes, they play as a team and don't suffer from the same ego problems as men. Women seem to be able to pull off much more elegant movements too.
My daughter plays football and she is 13. It's the only time I can get her off her phone.
But I hope all the other men don't start going down the pub to watch it though, so far the fans of women's football are a lot less rowdy!

Income of Men's World cup or leagues with female counterparts? Or that of most paid ones in each gender
