Why do people have face cheeks?

I know the booty ones or so it doesn't hurt to sit, but why do we have cusion on our face, is it in case you get punched? Maybe so when you sleep, hard surface or not, it doesn't hurt as much? I know some people have more than others, but something about the spacing caused by the shape of the human skull that makes you wonder, is it to protect the teeth 🤔

I don’t think it’s “padding”. It’s just flexible so our mandibles can move. That same flexibility allows for a wider range of vocalizations which would definitely serve evolutionary advantage. There are examples of other primates pre-chewing food for their young. So possibly our ancestors used their cheeks as pockets for food they planned to share.
We are, more than many people want to admit, fundamentally the products of evolutionary biology.

As for me they have face cheeks for essential functions including chewing and swallowing food, making facial expressions, and speaking.
