So I have a female cousin who is kinda just a natural born fighter - like when we were 5-6, she apparently used to beat me up (though I remember hearing about this more than I actually remember it happening. Anyway, we're 15 now, I'm in 10th, she's in 9th, and we had a little spat over the weekend.

I tried to break up a fight between her and her little brother. I went over and tried to pull Nikki off of Mick. She suddenly turned on me and shoved me hard "you wanna fight? Come on, let's go." I shoved back, but for some reason she seemed to have all the momentum, and I was the one getting backed up, until she had me backed up all the way to a spare bed (which was right behind my knees).

Then she really made me look like a bitch by pushing me down onto the bed. She stood over me menacingly, and was like, "come on, let's fight. Are you scared of a girl." By this point I had a lump in my throat and so couldn't really say anything (so as not to betray I was on the verge of crying). I knew if I stood up, it would be almost impossible to stop her from shoving me straight back down (because of the bed behind my knees). But with no other real option coming to mind, I tried it anyway. Predictably, she shoved me straight back down.

When I got up the next time, she stared me down for a moment or two, and raised her open hand to slap my face. Even though I saw it coming, for some reason I didn't / couldn't block or dodge. The slap was not hard, but deliberate and made my face turn. After she slapped me she stared me down for another second or two waiting for my reaction. When I didn't do anything, she broke out in a smirk, said "that's what I thought!," and headed back over to resume fighting Mick.

I know sometimes with really little kids, girls beat up boys, but in hs? Why do you think she was so sure she could beat me up? Do you think there's any chance she really could (even though she's just a girl)? Do you think I looked like a puss in this situation?

We have grit, though, which is often mistaken to be a masculine trait, so folks do use the slang "she's got balls" or "she's ballsy" to describe a woman with grit.

One of my male clients always greets me with a big hug and smile. He's got a very "teddybear" sort of energy, always has. But I paired him with the ballsiest guy I knew (for training) and he came back to me saying, "You've got more balls than that guy."

I thought the comment was a little funny. But tbh, I do speak my mind way more than some guys will. I'm not trying to be disrespectful, just to get things done, which requires very plain and direct conversation. "This is what I need and this is when I need it. Don't screw around with me. I'm counting on you."

And ~80-90% of the time that works, ~10-20% of the time it doesn't... and if one plan doesn't work then there's a backup plan...

"Having Balls" is just about being direct, organized and resilient.

Yes, some do and I think you are correct in your assessment. I know some of them, and I think that is a perfect example of the differences between the sexes, in that some girls/women, are more "manly' and some boys/men are more girl like.

At a Fred Astaire dance competition, I saw some men dancers that were very much as femanine as their women partners. I worked with a Lesbian woman at Boeing, and she was very 'manly' in her dress and mannerisms.

I have a woman friend who told me to my face that she could 'beat me up" - she is a truck driver, is very strong- admits that she is 'asexual'.
