What does "Hmmm Maybe" mean from a girl?

I asked a girl is she wanted to go roller skating and grab a bite to eat and she said Hmm Maybe I'm supposed to go to the club.. is this a way for letting me down easy..

Note: She was supposed to go with a friend of ours from work (a girl) to the club one day she was off which was either fri or sat..

When I say that I usually mean that I'm too shy to say yes straight out, I mean yes, but I need a little encouragement haha. or I have other plans and I need to cancel them before I say yes! or I don't really want to go and I can't say no until I make other plans and if I can't make other plans I'll go lol.

pretty much yes. Well at least that's what I do when I can't htink of a good excuse to say no right away but then again everyone is different :)

I don't think it is necessary a let down. I will use hmms and umms when I have other plans but would have to cancel them to do something else. Maybe the day still isn't nailed down for her other plans, so she wants to find out before just saying yes. I wouldn't take it badly, it could go either way. Good Luck!
