Why a girl asks a guy if he thinks another girl is pretty?

As above, this question really intrigues me. Not a girlfriend asking a boyfriend, but just single girl asking single guy what he thinks of other girls. What's up?

honestly never done this but I suspect its because the girl likes the guy and if he says, yes, then she will try to look more like her to get his attention, if he says no, she wil probably keep asking questions to find out what he would like

women/girls are very self concious of their looks. especially if they see the man they like checking out other women and not them

were curious. I do it most of of the time because I like knowing how the mind works. and men are different. it also usually tells a lot about men, knowing the type of chick theyre into. people have different tastes.

For me, it's usually playful. Like *I* think she's hot, so you need to validate my opinion by telling me whether she is or not. I guess if I like him, it could be a way to figure out his type, but I'm not the kind of girl to like a guy and then draw his attention to OTHER females.

I do it with guys I've friend zoned, but there ARE insecure girls out there who might not have friend zoned you and asked anyway.

I agree with CrystalMinds and dodgersmom11 but, it could possibly play into some insecurities she has also even if she won't admit it. Relatively speaking it probably has to do with her trying to see what you like/how pretty "you" think she is.

If it's random girls then she just wants to know the ranks and how she fits in. If it's girls that are common or who are mutual friends she maybe gathering information to see if you and the girl are compatible so she can play matchmaker.

It's not that complicated, girls want to know how boys are thinking, and the other way around.

So she knows what kind of girls the guy likes. Usually that is when she's interested in him. Or when they're close friends and they just discuss likes and dislikes in women/men.

I would ask a guy to understand if the girl I see is really liked by men or not.

If the characterisics she has are attractive or am I the only one to see her

Usually, a girl asks this when she's into you. The answer she's looking for is "not as pretty as you" or something. I, personally, would never ask a guy this question. If you dot compliment her enough she may ask

Its a loaded question and that is why I never ask it.

I'm not insecure enough to probe for that type of question. Its just not worth it.
