Skaters are just normal people who practice a very difficult sport called skateboarding. Now a little admiration for practicing difficult tricks and doing what you love is good, but why would anyone just go out with skaters or whatever, cause they look cool or are hot.

That being said, I'm very disappointed with some of the girls on here that seem to think of skateboarding as a bunch of 14 year olds riding a stupid piece of wood smoking pot, and they should grow up and stop once theyre out of high school. Let me put the "oh-so-great" football in some of your biased words. "A bunch of dumb jocks throwing around a stupid ball, tackling other sweaty men, and drinking lots of beer". Now is that the truth? No. But just some dumb excuse to diss.

Skateboarding (along with BMX and some other very lesser known sports) are at the very top of the chart when it comes to extremely difficult sports. It takes an enormous amount of time, effort, and injury to become good. I am a skateboarder myself, and have been for almost 2 years. I have played baseball, basketball, and football well all in organized leagues. None of them come close to the skill in skateboarding. And that is a well-known fact. The professionals in skateboarding have been doing so for at least 10 years each of them, to a huge extent of practice. Almost everyone of them could throw around a football, shoot a 3-point basket well, and hit a 70mph baseball.

So please, before you judge thinking 30 year olds shouldnt be on a skateboard. Please watch a professional video, like say Fully Flared, and wonder if many people have anywhere near the coordination and balls to do what they do. It's not some fad like, auto-tuned pop music or jerking, skateboarding has been around since the 70's and its here to stay.

And no, "skaters" aren't hot, anyone can skate, and everyone is different. its *SKATEBOARDING* that should at least be decently respected. Just cause one skater damaged your car, doesn't mean ALL skateboarders are fricking idiots. It means YOU are for being so blind and naive to think that. Just cause some dude wearing a hat robbed you, doesn't make everyone who wears hats frickin retards that should all go to jail.

a 16-year old kid who skateboards, ok fine, but I'm not dating any 16 year olds. when I see a cute 20+ year old guy who's still doing kick flips and ollies in his driveway, it's like, "wow, grow up and go to college!"

when I was 15, I thought Bam Margera was hot, but now I think he's a fool who is occasionally funny. and Tony Hawk...wtf?

i just think skateboarding is one of those things you don't take with you past high school because it just screams, "i'm a teenager!" the same goes with UGGs, wearing leggings as pants, painting your nails black, wearing your pants around or below your ass, bizarre hair colors (been there done that), bright-colored skinny jeans, and glitter.

What's so appealing about football players or motocross racers?

I like the sence of freedom that comes with the board. Ever try skating? It's like flying (even if its at a slow speed for me, I can't skate well lol ^^) A lot of the skaters from my area are pretty cool, sure you get the posers and assholes but a majority of them are just really fun to be around, they encourage each other (specially the little ones) and it takes a good amound of skill to land most of those tricks without spraining your ankle.

He wasn't so happy when I ran over the f***ing thing! A real man will put his life on the line everyday, a boy balances himself on a bit of wood and then throws himself down the stairs. Skateboarding is a really difficult art/skill/sport. I respect people who skate because it requires years of skill and practice to be legit. the skate attitude can sometimes be a little ridiculous, but I STILL seem to be attracted to guys who skate (and I'm gettin old!). I don't know why I think its the bad guy attitude I dig.

not all girls like skaters, but all girls like guys who are legitimately talented at something. I've always wanted to be able to admire my boyfriend. it doesn't matter what they do, as long as they are passionate about something. skating is just very obvious because it's done in very public places.

I don't see how you can judge someone based on a sport they do. Some of the sweetest guys I know skateboard. People like skateboarders because of the sport- it's new, and cam be risky, and there's no denying that it takes talent, ad because of the style and clothe and shoes accosiated with the sport. I'm sorry, but it doesn't make sense to say that they're all jerks.

Skateboarding is a sport. If your sponsored you get payed if you win big competitions. It all has to do with advertising. Skateboarding events advertise hundreds of clothing companies, drink companies, shoe companies, and a reason to get out there and try something new, just like every other sport.

Girls like skaters because it comes along with the 'bad boy' persona.. however, nowadays the bad boy thing is kinda dying and quite a large majority of them are pot heads or just plain stupid. Try going to college. I mean, it's different if you're still in high school but really, grow up and get a different hobby. Skating isn't cool anymore, only like 4th graders do that anymore.

I think it's because they are risk takers. They know there is a possibility  they might fall and hurt themselves and they do it anyway. Skaters have a lot more gut then myself. I am way too paranoid to try some of the stunts that they perform.

idk but personally I can't stand most skaters. I only have a few cloosee friends that skate but most of them are assholes. I don't think theyre that great but maybe because skaters tend to get girls.
