Do you tilt your head back when you swallow pills?

I've noticed in movies they always tilt their heads back when they swallow pills. I don't do that and I was wondering if it's just bad acting or if most people actually do that

I don't do it but there is a logic to it because it straightens out the passage. The same way in which sword swallowers do tip their head right back.

The best method of swallowing pills is to take a big gulp of water and only focus on the water. We swallow things much larger than any pill all the time. If you focus purely on the water, a big gulp, then you won't even notice the tablets at all.

I have swallowed 9 tablets in one go without any issue whatsoever. That was for a particular purpose I might add, it wasn't a suicide attempt, lol.

Yeah exactly, and I don't tilt my head in the slightest to swallow water. I swallow entire spoonfuls of peas without chewing them since I don't like the taste, so that's like swallowing 20 pills at once I guess :P

It depends. With capsules, sometimes it's better to put them in your mouth with some water then tilt your head slightly down so they float towards the back of your throat.

I didn't choose any option because I do both, depending on how difficult the pill is to swallow.

If I'm having trouble getting the pill to go down with just swallowing normally, then I tilt my head back. I usually take pills with a big gulp of water, so that usually helps and doesn't require me to tilt my head back.

Tilting your head back constricts your throat. Its much less efficient
