In the US, there are separate saunas for men and women, and most require some sort of covering, nudity not allowed. In Europe, especially the Scandinavian countries, most saunas are coed, used by both men and women, and clothing is optional; most sauna users are naked.

In the sauna it is very hot and the idea is that you start sweating a lot. Wearing clothing, any clothing, in a sauna is very unhealthy. The sweat cannot evaporate, and keeps sticking around you...

So if a sauna comes with a rule "swimwear required", then I see that as "this sauna is closed / sauna not available / no sauna here".

only went in 3 when our group went to Scandinavia last summer. They were co ed. Most went naked. I kinda had a towel over me because I was afraid of getting aroused if you know what I mean. Now think back we all have the same body parts so what is wrong with just being naked.

unfortunately you have to follow community guidelines so i always wore a bathing suit of course i'd have no problem getting nude but the men would probably scream if i did.

Here in our home sauna, I/we don't wear anything inside.

In the country clubs I frequent or resorts I vacation in, I cover myself with a towel.

I wear swimsuit and towel on top. I'm modest. I am totally down to seeing naked ladies though provided they aren't so old or chubby. All the more reason though for me to wear swimsuit and towel since I need to hide the boner.

Usually a towel or swimsuit. A friend has one and we will go for swim in the bay which is cool. We use the Sauna to warm up, or we go back into the water again. The hot to cold plunge is good for you.

My birthday suit. In Sweden, that's how you go in saunas here, there is always towels and it's optional.

@Red_Arrow of course. Along with a cold rock or any other cold object made of thermally conductive material. Or cool the twins beforehand and wear something to insulte the lack of heat.

It makes sense that those who answered that they wear plastic gym clothes, are those same biggest gay frogs.
