My birthday was last Friday and I went on vacation that week. The norm for people in the company I work for is to get a card and everyone in the company signs it (if possible). Kinda ruins the idea of being nice to people but at least everyone equally gets a card but the people in my department are the ones in the company I'd think are not dramatic and genuinely nice people. Mostly everyone else in the company just acts like high school kids: forming cliques, gossiping about people, venting all the time etc.

When I finally got to work after being gone a week I saw my office decorated like a tornado hit it. So I was happy, until I found out that the people that decorated my office and got me gifts were people in other departments. No one in my department helped or did anything for my birthday.

In fact when I got to work all they said was their normal hello's. Even when they saw my office decorated they didn't say anything, acknowledge it, say "oh happy birthday" or anything. They just acted like the balloons and streamers weren't even there. They didn't even asked who decorated my office. I was quite shocked.

Not that I expected anything from anyone but for them to not even inquire as to who decorated my office or at least say happy birthday was kinda shocking and disappointing enough to kinda overshadow how happy I was that someone did something nice because its not like them to just not acknowledge something.

Why do you think the people who I work with who are one of the nicer people in the company to just totally not acknowledge my birthday. Its not like them, they are usually sweet and generous and humble people.

Any ideas?

I really don't want an all out gender war. We were having this discussion earlier in class. In my opinion, it seems we are both just as prone but men for the life of them will never say they are depressed, bipolar, schizophrenic, etc. so the general idea has always been women are more prone. What do you think?

not trying to start a feminist debate here, just wondering. Lets say you just had a baby, you took 3 months off work. Your husband just got promoted so now he makes enough money so that you don't have to go back to work if you don't want to, what would you choose to do and why?

For me it depends, If I don't like my job then id much rather stay home and be with my baby, If I love what I do and it enriches my life then id probably go back to work.

I know this might sound like a silly question but I don't know I'm just curious to know which one you prefer. So, if you had to choose one over the other, which one are you most likely to get? Or does it not matter cause they taste the same?

I eat fairly well throughout the month, except when my period comes 'round... I try so hard to have control, and I do not eat nearly as much as the cravings say, but it is no lie that, if in sight, the sweets and any tasty "non-dessert" will be contemplated or eaten unnecessarily.

I keep thinking "Oh, ONE cup of ice-cream won't hurt..." and it wouldn't, except when I am finished, suddenly it turns to "ONE chocolate bar won't do me in," "ONE cookie... OK, two... five. I'll just burn them off," (which never happens, since low motivation, cramps, bloating, and achy/weak muscles convince me otherwise.) "Spinach and Mozzarella pretzel? Yes, please!" "Crackers and hummus! Yup!" "A thick slice of cake? Sure!" "Pudding, please be available!" "What's a few slices of bread smothered in butter?" "I should really go to the theater... one bag of candy is fine," (a bag that equals three or more servings, generally.) "Where is that recipe for butter oatmeal, chocolate-chip cookies?" "Ice-cream and hot fudge... just a TAD BIT more," "The mountain of holiday sweets in my cabinet? I'm so glad I don't have to share!" "JUST. ONE. MORE."

My period makes me feel and look disgusting (inside and out.) Do you have any tips to keep eating sane? Medications aren't an option.

Basically after every meal, and in between sometimes I crave sugar something and I don't have any clue how I can get past the craving or substitute for something. I just know this can't be healthy and it will end badly eventually. Seems like ever since I quite smoking a year ago the sweets have gone up but I gave up a bad habit and its been a year I want to get rid of this one now, any advice, ideas?

whats better option, option one or 2

1)stop all sweets and suffer till it goes away or will I go crazy?

2)OR eating way less sweets, or will I still feed the sugar addiction and it will never get easier?

also I've had no luck with artificial sweeteners, like aspertame, splenda it just doesn't hit the spot.

When you watch the Olympics, are you ever in awe at them?

I watched the Gymnastics section and the Swimming competition yesterday, and I was truly in awe at how conditioned and disciplined their bodies are.

Does anyone else feel this way at times?

Not just for the Gymnasts and Swimmers, but all of them?
