Sunday Liquor! Should Americans have the choice to buy alcohol on Sundays?

It doesn't bother me either way since rarely drink/ or I don't drink.

I grew up and no one did it...heck for some it was the only time a family drunk couldn't drink fire water :))

I'm not a traditionalist especially when it comes to the values around my neck of the woods.

However it should be a state thing because in some states it's a religious thing and in others that argument has less weight just my 3 cent :P

What's the big deal if liquor stores want to be open Sundays? Them not being open doesn't stop people from drinking on Sundays so I don't get it. I'm not saying they HAVE to be open, just that they should be able to be open if they want.

yes, the only reason you can't in some counties in some states is because of old blue laws that respect the sabbath. The Bible doesn't say drinking alcohol is a sin anyway, but whether it does, did, or doesn't people should be able to buy alcohol whenever they want.

The only restrictions in California is that you can't buy alcohol between 2am-6am. You can buy on Sundays, and you don't need to go to a special store; grocery stores have everything.

Of course, I drink so rarely that it's irrelevant to me.

Interesting, when I lived in Johnson County Kansas for 10 years they voted & quickly legalized Sunday liquor sales. They finally realized kansas was loosing millions to KC,MO , all we had to do was go across the street & we were in KC, MO

Yes, its simple really. Separation of church and state. I don't give a sh*t what your holy day is or what your god says. If I feel like going to the store to buy beer for the football game on Sunday morning, I should have every right as a citizen of this free country to do so.

I can't drink alcohol due to my meds, but I am against laws that regulate when any type of store can be open. That should be the store owner's choice, not the government. That's why I voted the "YES" option.

I'm pretty sure the regulation is by state, but I see no reason that responsible adults shouldn't be allowed to buy a legal substance whenever they want.

Here, the beer store is open on a lot of Stat holidays too now...

10am to 11pm Mon - Sat, 11am to 7pm Sun...

It's stupid if they aren't, but it doesn't really effect me. I'd say let them sell it if they wanna be open those days. But if they choose not to be open those days (much as Chik-whateva does) then so be it.

I don't care either way. It doesn't affect me. I mean, you can buy it 6 days a week. Do people suddenly get the urge to buy alcohol on Sundays and don't have the forethought to stock up? And I also don't have sympathy for those who want to get schnockered on a Sunday anyway. I suppose that's what Fridays and Saturdays are for.

Imo they should have their days off like anyone else. what's a need for 247? I mean 6 days I think would be enough to get what you need for a day they aren't open no? if you say yes, then your just a drunk that needs to fix your habit & spending.

Not always, I rarely drink but every blue moon I have a taste for booze & sometimes it happened to be on a bloody Sunday. You mentioned 24/7 "they need their days off like everyone else" that why we have scheduling, to rotate shifts so we all can take turns & rest but still make that money with Sunday liquor sales!

They're open 7 days a week in Canada :D Most are open til 9 Mon-Sat and only til 5 on Sunday

Except we don't obey the same laws, taxes, cut-backs, regulations nor do we operate on the same healthcare system (British government sends English and scottish doctors to learn from us, and come back home and try to emulate it - like...
