lol before I was pregnant I had a phase I was super into collecting uranium glass. It was mostly Dishes, vases, cups, and sculptures. Got worried it would affect my baby so got rid of it all.
+1 yRecords. I used to collect Mad and National Lampoon magazines but, thanks to my evil, greedy ex-sisters, all my Lampoon's are gone and so are quite a few of my Mad's. There were a few other things I collected but, again,. thanks to them, they're gone forever!!

National lampoons magazines?
- +1 y
That's what I said. I had all but most of the last couple dozen because I could never find any place that sold them.

I’ve watched the movies and love them, had no idea they had a magazine

That's practically how they started back in 1970. Before that, they were known as The Harvard Lampoon in the `60's. I think that was a college-based humour mag that the people that put it together decided, after college, to keep going for the entire country under the name, National Lampoon. As National Lampoon, they put out one issue a month until the late `80's or early `90's when they put one out every other month and, a few years later just stopped entirely. There were also dozens of special issues like, the high school yearbook parody, at least two that featured just the comics used in the regular issues, at least one Foto-Funnies issue, there was a huge issue that featured parodies of great works of art, another slightly smaller one that was filled with iron-ons you could put on t-shirts, the Animal House issue written by Chris Miller, at least two True Facts issues and quite a few others I just don't recall off the top of my head.
Although there were a few movies from, the late `60's onwards that were partially related to National Lampoon, ("The Groove Tube" and a couple others) the first real Lampoon movie was, "Animal House", which was based on Chris Miller's college years at Dartmouth in the early `60's.. - +1 y
I really will look them up lol the humor is very naughty and sarcastic.
- +1 y
It sure is! Especially the Cheech Wizard and Dirty Duck comics and most of the Chris Miller stories. Their "Pubesence" issue was their most famous. I think it was from `74. It was the first issue I ever bought and included one of the Chris Miller stories that spurred on, "Animal House'. "The Night Of The Seven Fires". They WERE going to include that in the movie but the powers that be vetoed it because of all the puking involved. A few years later, Monty Python included a HUGE puking scene in one of their movies and nobody said shit about that!
I know they have 2 different DVD sets of every regular issue. One of them even includes the High School Yearbook parody. They also did a parody of a Sunday Newspaper. It looked just like a real Sunday paper. That was out summer of `78. About all I can remember of it was the headline on the front page, "Man tries to rape woman but she beats him off!" Most of those mags I never even got the chance to read!!

+1 yI used to, now I'm in the mode of doing the opposite and trying to be a minimalist. I plan on traveling a lot over the next few years, and I kind of want my life to fit into suitcases.

Travel things from many countries I've been to. Some art, sculpture pieces, think travel gift shop type stuff. I used to keep old books too.

Not since I have grown up but when I was a little girl my dad would bring me dolls from all over the world and made me a doll case that hung on my bedroom wall. So yes, I used to have a doll collection.

+1 yI used to collect pretty rocks when I was a child. I don't collect anything, now. I have a few trinkets, such as a statuette of Black Cat and a Fibre Glass Corvette, but those are singular compared to people that have multiple car models or comic book /anime based figurines.
10 ReplyYes. Everything! I need to stop doing that and unload most of the things that are not worth the space that they take up.
I guess that I got that practice from my mother. She lived through the Great Depression and saved everything because you possibly would find another use for it.10 Reply
