I came to love skateboarding since I was a child and it's a lifelong passion. I have this old picture from when I was 13 or 14, I think. It's the only one I have since I've always been rather camera shy (kind of to my regret now; I wish I took more pictures when I was younger and could do the biggest tricks). Ended up making a small article in Thrasher magazine since I won the contest, although my pads were falling off since I had to borrow some oversized ones to enter.

Little backside air from my teenage days on a mini-ramp.
Little backside air from my teenage days on a mini-ramp.

Unfortunately I might have to consider quitting soon. I just ended up tearing a ligament in my ankle around New Year bailing from an air to the flat-bottom and my knees are getting really messed up from taking so many falls (had to drain them of fluid multiple times). I've also broken so many bones and get painful arthritic flares from time to time.

I've also always enjoyed drawing and painting since childhood. Unfortunately I lack pictures of most of my paintings and had to throw them away when I moved. But I started to take up digital painting like this competing in Oekaki speed sketches:

Oekaki quick-sketch of my pet dog.
Oekaki quick-sketch of my pet dog.
Oekaki quick-sketch of one of my friends from America.
Oekaki quick-sketch of one of my friends from America.

I favor a scribbly or painterly style that lets me draw things really fast although I rely on people's eyes to blend the colors since manually blending takes me a long time.

Also like to make music on my keyboard starting from childhood (I needed to make music for the video games I made and lacked the resources to hire a musician) although I'm not very good at it. I only recently started learning music theory. I have this one song which is the first song I tried to record when I think I was 9 or 10. The sound quality is really bad (recorded it on cassette tape) and it probably contains a lot of mistakes in terms of functional harmony. I just sort of winged it and tried to record what sounded okay to my ears back then.

I’m currently fending off a very stupid idea to start playing semipro football again, lmao, and football was my biggest thing growing up. I do play ice hockey now, and I only played street hockey as a kid, but in some senses I’m doing the full-on version of a halfway-hobby from childhood. Living a dream is more like it, haha.

My ATTEMPTED hobby is original Nintendo. I wasn’t a HUGE gamer as a kid, but definitely did a good amount of it like most 80s kids. I just preferred going outside and playing sports. I remember being really mad when Final Fantasy first came out, because no one would come outside and play sports with me😂 But I just bought a modded NES Classic that has all the OG games, it has the original style controller…. and I’ve played like an hour of it since I got it two months ago, lmao. I’ll get to it, though😝

      Lmao, never stop bowling😝

Would you believe I haven’t ever played Wii before? Just never knew anyone who owned one. But my half-brother has special needs and lives in a home with others like him. I took him out for the day with my dad, and in his conversation, he says “we’ve been boxing. I knocked my opponent out in the second round.” I’m trying not to freak about it in front of him, but he legit had me thinking they had the special needs folks boxing each other, and my bro is like 6’5 lmao. So I’m fuming, ready to call the state mental health department, like “what the hell kind of operation are you running?” And then he finally mentions that it was Wii Boxing, and I’m like “ohhhhhhhhh, thank god, that makes WAY more sense.” I was afraid they had some awful gambling thing going on there and making the residents fight each other💀💀💀

“How can I look up that rock adventure place”

Look at rock adventure places in your area. You don’t need to be in her area. Nor does she have to tell you where she is. You are a stranger on the internet. That is the last thing she needs.

You do understand as a moderator, and a woman, I look for this. You don’t seriously think that I haven’t been through some predatory shit. I am not accusing you, yet. You are getting close.

Use fucking Google dude. Get a rock course in your own location. Can’t be hard. You are 18. You can travel. No need to ask her again. That is my final warning.

I love jigsaw puzzles. I used to make puzzles a lot as a kid with my mom. And every now and then I'll find a new one when I go shopping and just buy it. Then during some quiet time at home I'll sit down, play some light music and just piece it together

Painting when I only have time. But only preparing the workstation takes at least half an hour. Cleaning takes over an hour. To create something, you need at least two to three hours. I rarely have enough time for that.

@_maya_ Neato! 🙂 I've never been on a jet ski before. They do look like fun though! I remember back in the early 90s when me and my mom took the ferry across Lake Erie to the Ohio side there were jet skiers who rode the wake behind the ferry for miles. Some of them got some pretty decent air too. I just stood at the stern of the boat and watched them. lol But outdoor activities I like to do are: walking, hiking, camping, fishing, cycling, canoeing, nature photography and gardening. Pretty much anything to do with the outdoors and I'm a happy camper. 😊 Quite literally sometimes. ⛺️😂 But that's one thing I love about canoeing and hiking is getting into areas where there are no people and it's just you and the natural surroundings all around you. Love it.

Well they don't live there. That's their vacation home. It gets rented most of the year but yeah its nice going down there. This summer will be first time with my girlfriend down there. She's pumped.

The Keys are amazeballs! Hard to navigate on the water. My ski has marine nav but it is still terrifying until you have some experience in an area. I'll have to find a pic of christ of the abyss. Look that up with "keys".

@_maya_ Haha. Cool! I'd like to see if it's not too much for you to share! 🙂 That kind of reminds me of the 50,000 Islands area of Georgian Bay on the Canadian side of Lake Huron. There are islands and very shallow obstacles EVERYWHERE there. It's an endless labyrinth of rock and there are many areas where it is complete unnavigable by boat, and can only be accessed by canoe or kayak. Many pleasure craft have sunk there. It's also a very remote and uninhabited area, so you have to be really careful when navigating there. The scenery there is gorgeous there though. Maybe I'll have to share some pics of there too! 😉

@_maya_ Awww, thanks. You seem nice too. 😊 At your leisure, here's a photo album of the 50,000 Island area and parts of Georgian Bay in general. It's a local photographer's album on Flickr. There's about 8 pages of pics though, so you can just quickly scan through them to get a feel for what that area is like. There's some really neat rock formations there too. Some of which are volcanic. The trees can also look really whimsical as well because they are so windswept...

I'm in remission from brain cancer but still get seizures. I had barely a month between them, that my doctor thought it would be a good idea.

I usually like non fictional historical stuff. It fascinates me really diving into an event and learning about the little details.

It has been some time. I was reading about ancient Egypt over the summer. Interesting to really learn how they built all that stuff.

Ah! I have done some research into ancient Egypt also. Some of the guesses make little sense to me. Yet it is all incredible

I started out building display cases for my ex-wife’s dolls and then toy boxes for my kids. I am in the process of a side buffet and hutch. Similar to this one.
