When my mother was 5 years old, she made a Santa Claus out of cardboard and cotton, and colored with crayons. Every Christmas, that Santa has a revered place on our tree.

Made a device to fix a table leg. Not sure what to call it, but it covers the leg on three sides with holes for screws. I've made electrical switch covers, replacement parts for pieces of our fridge that broke, new button for my wife's gear shifter in her car, covers for the 12 volt power port in both cars, use to be called the cigarette lighter. Covers for our remotes for our television. A mount for the living room wifi access point, mounts for our living room speakers.. The list goes on lol

What material/s do you use to print things?
Can they take different materials? Or are they limited to one type?
What do the printer and printer materials cost?
Whats the printer model on the non custom one?

Sorry its just really interesting to me. 😅

Have you ever used a hot glue gun? It works similarly to that only a LOT hotter. It melts plastic and extrudes it in layers.

The program that turns 3d Objects into usable files is called a slicer, cause it turns the object into sliced layers. and the printer builds the object a layer at a time. Dusty, if you want, DM me, and i can go into more detail.

@TheSpaceGnome Yes, it can use really any material depending on how you have it set up. Though i would avoid toxic materials like ABS, ASA, and Nylon. but you can even print Poly Carbonate, and materials that are infused with Carbon fiber, wood, and clay.

That's a tough one for me being a minimalist. I'm trying to think as I'm writing and just completely drawing blanks.

Maybe my wedding band is one although I admittedly lost my original long time ago and had to replace it. I still don't prize it that much since it's not the actual ring but what it symbolizes when I wear it that's important as I see it, and I'm such an absent-minded person that I have a tendency to lose these things.

Or maybe my house. That was really expensive and if it burned down, it'd be such a major setback.

I do really love my computer keyboard as well. I can type quite fast still at over 200 WPM but I'm very picky about keyboards and it took me a very long time to find mine. I prefer ones with springier keys that really bounce back and on the noisier since I use that tactile and auditory feedback to help me type.

One thing that has suffered more than my typing speed at my age is that I am making a lot more mistakes in my writing and tending to not notice it on proof-reading until I see the text reformatted after posting it as an answer. The quality of my answers could improve so substantially (as well as get shorter) if we just had an edit function.

Also I have a Braun immersion blender that I really love. I love to make lots of Indian curries and ginger salad dressings and tomato basil soup and things like that which involve blending vegetables. I used to have to transfer the hot soup into the blender and in multiple batches to blend it but with the immersion blender, I can just blend it directly in the pot. I really love my immersion blender.

I'm not a fan of cars (truck and motorcycle woman here) but for two cars. And the R8 is one of them. I don't think I would want to own one as I would worry parking it anywhere. But I do want to drive one. Just once. Feel the precision.
One of my bikes is a scooter. An R8 came up next to me at a stoplight five months ago. I asked if he wanted to race. lol Hey.. it's beaten Harleys out of the gate countless times.

My house, followed by my Porsche, followed by my very custom computer that I built and maintain, followed by my Fender Stratocaster guitar.

I have a lot of stuff. Perhaps too much.
