What is your most prized material possession?

When my mother was 5 years old, she made a Santa Claus out of cardboard and cotton, and colored with crayons. Every Christmas, that Santa has a revered place on our tree.
Beautiful
Thanks for MHO
You are welcome.
These bad boys..
What are they? 🧐
High speed 3d printers.
One is a custom job, one is a Bambu labs printer.
Oh sweet. I've heard those are fun. The Bearded Mechanic on youtube made some tools out of them resently. They broke lmao
I know I love it, and my wife is very supportive of the hobby.
Good wife. Hold onto her. 😎
Oh definitely. It doesn't hurt that I use these to help with home repair, and I make things for her.
What have you created to help? Curious.
Made a device to fix a table leg. Not sure what to call it, but it covers the leg on three sides with holes for screws. I've made electrical switch covers, replacement parts for pieces of our fridge that broke, new button for my wife's gear shifter in her car, covers for the 12 volt power port in both cars, use to be called the cigarette lighter. Covers for our remotes for our television. A mount for the living room wifi access point, mounts for our living room speakers.. The list goes on lol
Wheel chucks for our grill. Wheel chucks for our bed (to level it and stop it moving)
What material/s do you use to print things?
Can they take different materials? Or are they limited to one type?
What do the printer and printer materials cost?
Whats the printer model on the non custom one?
Sorry its just really interesting to me. 😅
Also.. where do you get the "blueprints" for each item?
oh yes! that too :D though i imagine printing electronic casing parts or toys or won't be where you find bps for shelving, utensils, or grill parts 🤔
Most I made my self in fusion 360
Okay. But I'm confused because I've not used it myself. How do you program it what to cut?
Have you ever used a hot glue gun? It works similarly to that only a LOT hotter. It melts plastic and extrudes it in layers.
The program that turns 3d Objects into usable files is called a slicer, cause it turns the object into sliced layers. and the printer builds the object a layer at a time. Dusty, if you want, DM me, and i can go into more detail.
Yes. Okay, still confused.
Can it use polypropylene?
@TheSpaceGnome Yes, it can use really any material depending on how you have it set up. Though i would avoid toxic materials like ABS, ASA, and Nylon. but you can even print Poly Carbonate, and materials that are infused with Carbon fiber, wood, and clay.
I like polypropylene because its a very hard material but can still bend without being damaged.
@TheSpaceGnome yup same material a bowling ball is made of.
@TheSpaceGnome Side note i can print in a few different kinds of rubber and TPU.
Neat, and really? I always thought bowling balls were made out of marble or some other polished stone 🤔 very Interesting.
I guess that explains why they dont crack on impact.
@TheSpaceGnome yeah its kind of cool, Also knife handles are made of it due to its thermal properties. Well good knives.
Yep, and a lot of 1990s toys, and old technology casings.

That's a tough one for me being a minimalist. I'm trying to think as I'm writing and just completely drawing blanks.
Maybe my wedding band is one although I admittedly lost my original long time ago and had to replace it. I still don't prize it that much since it's not the actual ring but what it symbolizes when I wear it that's important as I see it, and I'm such an absent-minded person that I have a tendency to lose these things.
Or maybe my house. That was really expensive and if it burned down, it'd be such a major setback.
I do really love my computer keyboard as well. I can type quite fast still at over 200 WPM but I'm very picky about keyboards and it took me a very long time to find mine. I prefer ones with springier keys that really bounce back and on the noisier since I use that tactile and auditory feedback to help me type.

One thing that has suffered more than my typing speed at my age is that I am making a lot more mistakes in my writing and tending to not notice it on proof-reading until I see the text reformatted after posting it as an answer. The quality of my answers could improve so substantially (as well as get shorter) if we just had an edit function.
Also I have a Braun immersion blender that I really love. I love to make lots of Indian curries and ginger salad dressings and tomato basil soup and things like that which involve blending vegetables. I used to have to transfer the hot soup into the blender and in multiple batches to blend it but with the immersion blender, I can just blend it directly in the pot. I really love my immersion blender.
One of the Following hard to pick just one.
1.) Batman Adventures #12 - First Appearance of Harley Quinn and my best friend gave it to me.
2.) Kesha’s Shoes - They touched Kesha’s feet need I say more?
3.) S. T. A. R. S. Samurai Edge - Love Resident Evil and Jill Valentine very much made me fall in love with Strong, Confident and Smart Female characters.
I like Jill V too
She influenced me so Much as a Child/Young Adult. I made me love Intelligent, Strong confident women. A come on, she’s a total Bad*** Piano, Pick locking and She’s got some good come backs!
I agree. 😎 They did a goos job with her character.
My Fabergé egg.
Only 52 exists in the world.
My mum was a fan. Lovely.
They are simply exquisite, and it's the most prized piece of my collection.
I showed it to my wife, she didn't even want to touch it for fear of breaking it.
That is a rare thing of beauty indeed, and for a hetero guy to say the word 'beauty' then it really MUST be. lol
It's a toss up between a homemade jewelry item made for me by one of my kiddos and an expensive jewelry item designed and bought for me by all of my kiddos together.
I can't go a day without wearing the homemade item, but the other was from all of them.
Love this. Special kids, these. 😎
Yes indeed! 💕💕💕
I have my car that I got when my mom passed away she was trying to get it back together and i recently finished it 1979 corvette
What a beauty. I bet she is so proud of you.
You are welcome.
Enjoy those efforts.
My dad's car.
I have an R8 that I would give away for nothing before parting with it, for ANY amount of money!
🤤
I'm not a fan of cars (truck and motorcycle woman here) but for two cars. And the R8 is one of them. I don't think I would want to own one as I would worry parking it anywhere. But I do want to drive one. Just once. Feel the precision.
One of my bikes is a scooter. An R8 came up next to me at a stoplight five months ago. I asked if he wanted to race. lol Hey.. it's beaten Harleys out of the gate countless times.
Keep your baby!
It's the V10 Twin Turbo version too :P, but i STILL hold my Dad's Peugeot 206 in higher regard.
Tell you what. If ever you come to London. I'll take you out for a drive in the R8, AND let you have a go at driving it. :)
Nice. lol
Interesting. Emotional attachment?
😯 I'm in. 🤝
The last thing my Dad bought, and I'm terrified to drive it. Keeping that in sparkling, working condition is a mission in itself. But you lift the bonnet ( I think you call it the hood?) and it's clean enough to eat your lunch off it!
Awe. Love that. 😎
I don't know many other people that wipe down their engines. I get comments about my trucks when I take it in. If it looks loved (in detail) they take better care of it.
Thank you, and yes I agree with you 100%. They take far more pride in working on a vehicle that looks cared for. For the engine etc, I use a product called Gunk to take off all the grease etc and then hose it off.
That and elbow grease. That's lovely. The car will last longer for it.
Thanks.. There's actually no work involved at all. All I do is paint it on with a soft bristle brush. Wait 15 minutes for it to soak in. then hose it down and voila'
We had to do someone similar when they forgot to tighten the oil face plate down on my mothers 86 Camry back in the day. That was a mess.
I generally like the therapy of getting in the groves with a cloth. Its satisfying.
I couldn't agree more! Therapeutic AND rewarding.
My most prized possession can't be bought or sold. It has no monetary value. I could not live without it because it's not a thing, it's my family
"Material"
Okay. Never mind. Not going to be picky. Family is cool.
Oh my. 😠 Okay. I can completely understand then. (Horrible people)
Ugh... awful.
Aside from my home, probably my 1971 cherry sunburst Les Paul Deluxe electric guitar.
Sweet baby. 😎
If the pandemic didn't teach us all that it's toilet paper than you're all crazy lol.
lol I'm sure there are people who are still going through their stockpiles. I saw one guy who had his garage 2/3 full I kid you not. You're really going to stick that in your sewer pipe?
Interestingly enough I didn't experience a tp shortage in stores from the pandemic. I kept hearing about others having that problem though.
🤣🤣🤣 So true!
@TheSpaceGnome Oh man you were lucky. What a $hit show it was... Pun intended lol. I had to buy toilet paper off a guy like I was buying drugs in a dark alley. Seriously lol. My sense of humor got me through the pandemic and this as sad as it was was so ridiculous to me I laughed through every sheet of toilet paper.
I def keep more in my house than I used to but sheesh I'm not filling my garage like @dustybiker2 saw.
A book by Hayao Miyazaki. Studio Ghibli founder with some of his artwork
Very nice
He makes really beautiful art. Whats the book called?
@TheSpaceGnome Hayao Miyazaki
The book title is just the artist's name? Odd, 🤔 but thank you none the less. 👍
Material?…
As in matter existing in a physical form?
My children and myself.
I really meant "stuff" that we happen to love.
I’m a fan of food… especially meat
Okay. I should have been more specific 😂
You knew better lol
I forgot: it's been a long time.
You forgot about me? 🥺🥺🥺
You hardly left me. I was talking about how gag runs.
True 🙂 🤗
Past my bedtime… ttyl 🤗
@charliefretz329 🤗
Take care of you.
Tryin to 🙂
My house and my Harley Davidson Ultraglide.
I just sat on one of those. 😎
What color do you have?
Very nice.
I have/had a honda cruiser I am selling. I want a triumph street triple 765R. It suits my area better with traffic and canyons.
It's completely different. lol I like the precision of this bike. I am drooling.
Agreed.
Your bike is like a step up from a convertible.
I'm a diagnosed hoarder so take note:
There's nothing if push comes to shove that I wouldn't be prepared to let go of.
My house, followed by my Porsche, followed by my very custom computer that I built and maintain, followed by my Fender Stratocaster guitar.
I have a lot of stuff. Perhaps too much.
Sand from mullah omar's mosque when US forces first moved through and took the land. Not going to find that on ebay.
My house is mine. Paid for in full long ago now. I am debt free.
My phone since I use it a lot. I'm not into material stuff much.
I don't know how much my things cost but I think it's my keyboard 🎹
My championship ring
Rock that ring!
Prob smart.
