What's your favourite childhood video games?

They didn't have video games when I was a child. They weren't significant until around 1978 when I was 15.

However, Asteroids which came out in 1979. I spent many quarters and hours playing that game.

I didn't have that neither - and I hated it. I never got a home video game system because of it.

Atari was a major video game manufacturer including making Asteroids which was probably their first big game. But, i played in arcades where you spent quarters and played dedicated machines. The Atari home system came out when I was a senior in high school, I think. When I had a chance to play it, I thought "My God! This is shit!" A dedicated machine with dedicated controls is a vastly superior experience. The Atari home system was like stone knives and bear skins. And I came to realize that - home gaming systems are never dedicated to the games they play. So, unless that game itself is made for that system (and most are now), then its a translation from a dedicated arcade system and will be shit.

Just to give you another example or... twelve... I have often played "classic" video games (including Asteroids) on my laptop. It's a shit experience.

Playing a dedicated-cabinet video game in an arcade is like fucking the hottest chick in the world.
After you've done that, playing on a home gaming system or online game is like fucking a blow-up doll.

Missle Command. Anything other than a dedicated cabinet (with a trackball!) is absolute shit.
