Did you ever have you mind play tricks on you?

Just a thing that happened the other day. I was looking for a stapler and it was sitting right in front of me on my desk. Somehow I tought it was blue, instead of the bright red one I have. Enough for my mind to look for blue objects and not see my stapler in plain sight.

Please share things that happen to you that are inexplicable for a pure logical mind.

I posted a question recently on GAG's. I checked over the question a few times, and everything seemed perfect, so I pressed the send button.

When I looked over my question on GAG's, I realised the question had a 'to' that shouldn't have been there.

How did I miss that!

Fortunately nobody seemed to mind and I received plenty of opinions.

What you describe is the principle behind a lot of "magic" tricks. It's also why eyewitness testimony and memory are so unreliable. Defense attorneys make a living off this phenomenon.

And yeah, everyone can be vulnerable to that sort of cognitive bias / blindness. We can be blind to something right in front of us. Our eyes are working fine. But our brain is seeing what it expects to see.
