Some people sound like they believe that marriage (and kids) decreases the risk of being cheated on. 😂
This is like asking if driving a car you bought is more dangerous than driving a car you borrowed. Well what's more important is which car did you pick, how good are you at picking & how good are you at driving. A lot of people are experts in failed relationships. I made sure to marry someone who didn't have a long line of failed relationships or high mileage count. Also to make sure her family didn't have that. This is just some of what I did... a man is taking a huge risk to get married in today's (1st world) atmosphere. He'd be wise to not make assumptions about the woman's ability to keep her word.
it's been noted that women who are friends with unhappily married/divorced women are more likely to get divorces. This is similar to how if a woman's mother or sister are single moms then she's 5x more likely to become a single mom. If you pick an apple out of a bin full of rotten apples don't be surprised if you don't have a fresh apple.
But yeah, if you have a great track record at being able to find sucky relationships & breaking up/getting dumped all the time then it's likely you will find the same thing happen when you get married.
Whats the view here?
I am willing to believe that across the same timeframe and phase in a relationship a couple marrying would, on average, be less likely to cheat. I don't have stats for that but feel it a safe assumption.
I would also be perfectly fine believing that people cheat more in a marriage than they do outside them. I somewhat have stats for that.
The key point is time though. Looking at a 20 year or 2 year period is different and most surveys you would find lists if it happened, not frequency.
Anyhow without timeframes:
Practical purposes it decreases it.
Statistical purposes it likely increases it.
I don’t know if it increases the risk of being cheated on over and those who are unmarried, but one thing is for sure.
It increased the risk of divorce.
Right on target! It may as well be the cause of divorce.
Not a fan of marriage?
“Not a fan of marriage?”
I’m not opposed to marriage. I just don’t think it’s necessary for couple.
Reply attempt take two:
I just don’t think it’s necessary for all couples.
Apparently married men get hot on a lot more once they are married. That probably makes things difficult

If you marry the wrong person yes and we already know 56% of people marry wrong.
@coachTanthony
Where did you get that 56% of people marry wrong?
It increases the risk of being cheated on if you have a bad partner that thinks things should always be exciting and new and they can't handle long term responsibilities. Ask about your partner's car. how long have they had it and how often do they get a different car? If it was still working well and they got rid of it, it is a sign that they easily get bored and want something new even if there is nothing wrong with what they already have. I have noticed that many cheaters do tend to change their car often. Like every couple of years they will have a different one. They tend to never be satisfied with anything in life for long.
I guess it decreases because if you are caught cheating then you will go through divorce and that may impact you financially as well, for males. Especially if they have a kid. I don't think this impacts females in any way which is wrong.
Dating is more likely to make one cheat, marriage does actually still people down
If I was not married, I would be more willing to cheat. If I'm married than absolutely not.
Yes it increases the risk substantially for typical marriages for the woman to cheat. It makes no difference for if the man is going to cheat.
B or C, depending on how dedicated they are to the relationship and how well it’s going.
If your open and honest with each other you shouldn't have to.
No, the risk is always there anyway.
Only if you marry a cheater
Id say the odds are 50-50.
