How do you picture your wedding?

For the people that wanna get married of course, if you are already married, how did your marriage play out?

It's kinda crazy to me how some take the idea of bachelor parties to another level and bring strippers and stuff or sometimes even have sexual interactions with strangers, it's kinda wild how the western civilization ruins everything good, it's why I see myself marrying a foreign woman and for the most part only show interest to women outside my region, for the most part they have a better idea of marriage but I want to see the differences and see if there are any, this place has people from all around the world so it's valid lol

I always figured a small chapel reception with close friends and family would suffice, for me, with rental dress, no exhaustive photography or videography, and buffet-style catering indoors. If not, then only a few people which includes the witnesses, and a signing to a court-house certificate would also work if we decided to spend the money on other things like a getaway instead. I'm not overly picky or exhaustive about my wedding day demands so long as it gets done and it's no fuss and no rust (people having to sit there for more than 5 hrs) and an impertitive to show up. I don't want to obligate people who don't have to be there to be there when they have important things to do and the travel costs and what not would be too much of an expense for them. Sometimes, it's more cost-effective to just send digitized photos to faraway relatives online and send food gift cards to higher-end or family dining establishments and face time people than to expect them to show up on time or make time when things come up unexpectedly. I don't know, I don't obligate or take it too personally usually when people can't show though I might speculate why.

Some women want the whole 9 yards with the grand house backdrop, thousand-dollar dress, etc. and there's nothing wrong with that but I don't care to have people collect dust listening to a man say vows and whatever crap for more than 2 hrs plus the chit chat for another 2 hrs before it's time to leave. I'm a one-shot get er done ma'am in short order, preferably.

It's good to see that you would take your marriage seriously, usually people like this are the ones to have the proper mindset on what a marriage should be and the importance of it.

I can just take private photos out in nature or in an indoor garden later with my beau and that would be okay. I wouldn't make people stand around with appetizers out in the cold watching and having to feel obligated to participate in the whole photo dance of tall people in the back and shorties in the front business. But that's just me. I've attended my fair share of weddings and know thereabouts what's typical of the average wedding.

I also wouldn't make people dance off or do the whole flower toss thing or toss anything. It's silly to me and just fluff and frills. Some people hate dancing or can't dance or just hate loud noises or lights in general and having a DJ blare noise at people isn't so great afterward for some, especially the elderly.

It's always a "pain-in-the-ass" to have weddings outside, too, especially with food. All manner of hornets and flies flock to those scents like moths to flame not to mention some people have allergies to pollen and the unpredictability of the weather for susceptible people with health problems and there usually isn't anybody to clean up afterward— unless arrangements have been made through the catering company.

I wouldn't heavily critique a couple for having a wedding that is very different from mine and when I said I figured it was silly I meant it to mean it didn't make sense to me to have things like rice thrown at you. Hard rice hits the eye sockets like non other. It's painful AF.

I also don't want to obligate people to give wedding gifts as I find it unnecessary and tedious to parse them out. Hard cash is fine, if they want to, but not much else. Donations are also fine to whatever cause and there's no expectation of name-signing for such things. No pets. No perfume. No over-the-top dressing.

I wouldn't have a bachelor or bachelorette party but wouldn't mind if my husband wanted to do that. Each to his/her own if they want to have strippers, dancers, etc. I might not care for that but then again that's up for discussion with my spouse. These people are just entertainers, anyways,, and if it entertains some people then I ain't going to bother judging the crap out of it. Sure, if my spouse sexed up a stranger then I might raise my brows and question my life choices but then again each to his/her own.

I mean, it's not that I don't have standards or think I don't deserve the company of the important people in my life. It's just that I like things to be simple and understandable. Coherent. Fast. And cost-effective. I don't mind working around these parameters to accommodate my partner if they wanted more out of the experience.

It's hard enough to spend months and much monies to have a wedding arranged in the first place. I don't care for that stress.

I also don't care for nor want photo lights or video in my face by either phones or recorders or microphones or digital presentations. It detracts from the experience and can annoy the sh! t out of me as I'm pretty sensitive to all that stuff and probably won't ever watch the video or post it to social media.

And the way I think about it is this: If one day I divorce my husband, I ain't going to want to rewatch all the stuff that happened at a wedding. If he wants me, he can propose to marry me again. Sure, if they want a shot video or no flash couple photos for documentation purposes, fine.

Minimalist and Utilitarian would be how I would sum up my wedding goals.

For very obvious reasons, if someone needs a service pet or taxi voucher, then that's fine. I don't mind if alcohol is served so long as it's not the hard stuff that would knock a person out cold and not given to kids.

I don't know many people who smoke during weddings, and wouldn't want that blow in my face. Smokers can have a designated space outside the building away from the cars.

I've seen some people take stunning garden gazebo pictures after the chapel and that usually doesn't take very long and doesn't require people to step in and be a part of the action.

Great question Chico! Surely it’s the stupid Americans who do such things. I don’t understand how that wicked culture came about. Honestly… they just get dumber.
I had a mid size wedding in a reception venue with a garden outback with water fountains, lots of flowers, peacocks walking around. We had our photographers take pictures. We invited around 100-125 people. We had an outdoor reception and indoor sit down lunch.
before the wedding, my little sister was my maid of honor and she didn’t have to plan much of my wedding…. i invited some work friends and close friends. Lots of family members.
my ex mother in law planned most of the stuff… because my ex is an only child so she kinda never cut the cord. Hints why we are now divorced.
the wedding was beautiful and we all had a great time.

I got married a long time ago. We got married in the Catholic Church and we had the reception at her parents house. Her father and me renovated the basement and decorated it and installed some new lighting. It was a real homemade wedding. My wife wore her mother's wedding gown. She had a neighbor who was a professional photographer take pictures. We had a bar setup upstairs and my best friend was the bar tender, we had a lot of homemade Italian food.
I did not have a bachelor party but 4 of my friends and my brother went to one of my favorite restaurants.
Everyone who came said it was one of the best weddings they ever went to.
