Oh trust me I notice the little things more than most. That’s actually why I went out this Black Friday. I wasn’t out there fighting over stupid crap that is overconsumption I didn’t even buy not one thing. I went to JCPenney for one single Snoopy snow globe because it says 2025 the year I graduate with my bachelor’s and Snoopy was something I always read with my mom and grandparents before they passed when I was little. That’s the kind of “little thing” that means everything to me. And while I was there I didn’t even spend money on myself I gave my $10 free cash I received from the coupon to the sweetest little elderly lady that was waiting in front of me so she could get more for her grandkids and added in $50 bucks and helped her shop since she could barley walk and just needed to do some Christmas shopping. That felt a whole lot better than any sale ever could.

But the real reason I went?
Because I got to sit outside with my mom from 2am–5am no phones no distractions just talking about life with my mom and all the amazing memories we made with my grandparents and everything that actually matters what we are so thankful for everyday even the small things and that includes candles or even just a birthday cake because many don’t have that I know I didn’t some years because we couldn’t afford it. That time with my mom is priceless and what I love. Black Friday for us isn’t about the deals it’s about the tradition the laughter the memories and the love. Not meaningless materialistic items. So yeah I’ll take my sentimental snow globe my family moments and my joy over anyone’s “I prefer the little things” speech any day because you have no idea what others are going through and why they do the things they do so don’t judge!

And there's the little emotional "Don't judge me" speech... The little things have no price-tag, everything you mentioned is revolving around Black Friday deals, a whole family tradition built upon consumerism, you helped a little old lady turn her grand-children further into mindless consumerism - how virtuous you are. The time you spent with your mother could be spent every week, at any time and any place... Each to their own I guess.
