How should I make the invites seem like something even the guys would want to go to?

Looks like ggazelles knows her party math.

In my experience:

You'll want to invite significantly more people that you intend to have at the party.

This is because people have a tendency to flake.

In terms of parties, women flake at a much higher rate than men.

Don't quote me on that, it's just numbers.

If you want about 30 people, invite 30 girls and 15 guys.

You should end up with 15 guys and 15 girls.

The numbers will play out this way because the girls will bring their guy friends.

The guys will bring their guy friends,

and the girls will flake out at a rate just high enough to even out the numbers.

This is a pretty accurate strategy. The reason I suggested 15-30 people is because people flake way less in high school because they don't have as many weekend party options as college kids do. Since there won't be booze and it's not going to turn into a rager, you don't want to invite tons of people and have it get out of hand with people bringing their own. If you invite everyone in your immediate circle and they invite a few of their friends, then you should be all good.

Though I'm still concerned with liability of the fact that this IS a high school party, and most of the guests' freedoms are dictated by their parents. There's the likelyhood that many of the guests aren't allow, some are grounded, some have homework. various possiblities.

A high school party is much more likely to be underattended than over.

If your party doesn't have at least 500 people at it, it ain't shit at all. might as well not even call it a party. I've organized raves that have gathered up to 800 people in one night.

Invite as many people as you want! I usually rent out bars for my birthday parties (I'm 23) so I invite like 200 people, but in this case, try to invite the minimum number of people you think you'd need to have fun plus 5. This way if some people don't show, you'll still have a good crowd. I would say invite 15-30 people depending on how many friends you have (and if you're on a team or in any clubs invite those people too).

Well, you're sixteen, so it's not like they're going to have too many other options haha. Just send out a facebook invite and give it a fun or clever name. For example, I threw my roommate a birthday party at a bar last weekend and we called the event "(Birthday) Love in This Club," which is a play on that Usher/Young Jeezy song.

Pick a few of your favorite songs and try to play around with the titles. If that doesn't work, just call it "(your name)'s super sweet seventeenth."
