Why are so many Spanish/Latino men controlling and abusive?

This tends to be happening too much in latin countries, esp in Peru.

I've been in my homecountry for a several years now (I'm working to get the right documents and go back to the US; where I was raised most of my life) and hate to say this but I'm very ashamed of the men of my own nationality and race. I'll only be dating either European or American travellers at some point when I start looking for a relationship.

I'm sick of reading the newspaper and seeing on the news everyday of another woman either killed or beaten up and all because she wanted to break up with her bf or divorce her husband. My paternal grandfather used to hit my mother's father at some point too so I lost hope already.

I'm a Peruvian woman by the way and don't want to date my own race. I have developed such distrust and practically have negative thoughts about them.

I have noticed that in the states which is probably why every Latina I have ever seen in a relationship was with a white dude.

It tends to be the machismo culture that is rampantly prevalent in latino culture. Granted this isn't all hispanic and latino men as I myself am hispanic and I am not controlling and abusive.
