This guy I'm friends with makes fun of me for being pale (even though we're like the same shade.) He thinks I should get a tan. Are tan girls better?

You cannot please everybody!! Getting a tan is very harmful to your skin and if you overdo it you can get melanoma - and that is SO not worth impressing a couple of guys!

You should be wearing sunscreen on your face and neck every day to protect you skin from wrinkles and aging and harmful uv rays. Who cares if your guy friend thinks you should be tan? What does his opinion matter?

I'm white as fuck. I think tans look better buutttttt I ain't tryna get skin cancer and I'm pretty prone to it (my brother had to get a chunk out of his back removed because it was "potentially cancerous.) So I'll just stay blindingly white and cancer free.

After all a tan is essentially skin damage. The more you tan the more wrinkly you'll be when you're older.

The vast majority of guys prefer light skin or pale skin. That's dark skinned, light skinned, tan skinned, olive, etc. Majority of guys will pick pale or light skin.

I am not attracted at all to tan girls. I like them soft, pale white. Girls tanning themselves is akin to them wearing makeup and dressing a certain way. It has nothing to do with guys finding it attractive. It's about what other women think. The more natural she looks, the more attractive she is to most guys.

Tan skin is skin that has been damaged by the sun and recovered with a bit of protection against the next time. But every bit of damage takes one closer to skin cancer. No every one who tans does not get skin cancer, but not every one who smokes gets lung cancer. You probably look fine pale. I suggest you not work at tanning and only tan as much as you would by normal activities.

When skin is exposed to UV rays (cancer-causing) it increases the melanin production and is therefore, a sign of skin damage. The increase in melanin is the body's attempt to protect the skin from further damage.

I naturally get tan in the summer if I am out long enough. I do not go out and pay for it though at a tanning place. I also do not get extremely dark to keep my skin healthy for a longer time. It's a light tan that adds some color and looks natural.
