Butterflies taste with their feet as their taste sensors are located there. They can taste it by just standing on their food. They don't have mouths that allow them to bite or chew, instead they have a long straw-like structure called a proboscis which they use to drink nectar and juices.

Did you know a cockroach can survive levels of radiation fatal to all other organisms on earth! And if these survival skills weren't impressive, did you know that if decapitated the body will continue to live seemingly unaffected. It's death, days later, is the result of starvation (no mouthparts) not it's lack of a head
It's facts like these that make my dislike of insects justified, they're from another planet
