So... I'm lactose intolerant which means that drinking/eating dairy can often lead to really bad stomach cramps and diarrhea. Anyway, I was down in Los Angeles for a typical business meeting (fly in at 6am, fly out at 6pm) but the two I was with wanted to try out this burger place in Santa Monica before we left. They supposedly had these amazing milkshakes so I decided to get one because everyone else did. I had only about half of it and a lot of times, this turns out just fine.
Anyway, I'm on the plane back to Seattle and it's getting really bad. My stomach is growling and churning to where the people seated next to me can hear it and the abdominal pains are getting really, really intense. I hold it together throughout the flight, but at the very end, I have to go -- coincidentally, right during descent when the "fasten seatbelt" sign goes on and the flight attendant tells you to stay seated for the remainder of your flight. As an aside, I can't stand people who get up RIGHT at that moment. Well, I was one of those people.
I basically spent the entire descent on the airplane toilet and after that, I thought I'd be ok. But then I make my way out of the airport and to my car and my stomach starts acting up again. I turn the heat all the way up in my car (I feel that heat helps the cramps) and just try to hold everything in as I barrel down I-5 trying to get home as fast as possible. I make it home, make my way up the stairs, put the key into my front door lock... You know, I was so close...
