It's really, really gross. Happens here all the time, at least it seems like it. I'd say a good 90% of the people that I see spitting on the ground here are either smoking, vaping, or chewing dip/snuff. Most of them tend to be male as well, just from what I've seen. Maybe women who spit are more discreet about it.

I see people spitting into bottles and cups on the train or bus too, and sometimes even indoors. Gross but better than spitting all over the ground.

I just find the whole act of spitting to be disrespectful. It also tells me that you are a person who doesn't care about hygiene, cleanliness, or discretion.

your opinion. spit on the street is one of the least offensive things that you could step on. bodily waste, trash, etc are all on the street. if you are concerned with stepping in spit then from a hygienic perspective you may not want to walk in public areas
