How do you know if a guy likes you over the phone?

It's not what he talks about, it's whether he talks or not lol. If he's not interested, and you're just talking for no reason (e.g. just as friends), he's not going to want to keep talking for too long. But, if he likes you, he's going to like talking to you, and he's going to try to keep the conversation going or at least not try to end it.

But, that's not a sure sign, and it's pretty tough to tell over the phone (or IM chat or texts, for that matter). It's better to look for signs in person, like whether he responds well to your flirting or whether you see him looking at you for no reason when there's more than just you and him around.

Your best bet is to just flirt a lot with him so that he suspects that you might like him (but don't make it too obvious, as that could make him get comfortable with the situation and maybe even not like you as much), so that he won't feel so uncomfortable flirting with you. He won't ask you out if he thinks he doesn't have a chance. So, smile at him a lot, and maybe touch his arm if he says something nice or funny. Good luck with him! :)
